Joyce Meyer (March 27, 2024) Daily Devotional: A Willing Heart.

And the Lord said to Moses, Speak to the Israelites, that they take for Me an offering. From every man who gives it willingly and ungrudgingly with his heart you shall take My offering. - Exodus 25:1-2 (AMPC)

When we talk about a willing heart, we are basically talking about "want to." Without it we will never do anything.

"Want to" is a powerful thing. With it you can lose weight, keep your house clean, save money, get out of debt, or reach any other goal in life you may have set for yourself. You don't really like to face the fact that your victory or defeat has a lot to do with your "want to."

We like to blame everything on someone or something else. But you need to sit down and take a good old-fashioned inventory of your "want to." You need to be honest enough to say, "Lord, I didn't win the victory because I really didn't want to." Tonight, ask the Lord to give you plenty of "want to."

Prayer of the Day: Lord, I want to have a willing heart. I want to have a lot of “want-to.” I need Your help to meet my goals, amen.

Jentezen Franklin (March-17-2024) Daily Devotional: Lessons from a broken heart.

“Restore to me the joy of Your salvation.” Ps 51:12 NKJV

A broken heart can’t be healed by working sixteen hours a day, sweating it out in a gym, or using mood-altering substances like alcohol and drugs. Those things may bring a temporary fix but don’t bring a lasting cure. After falling into sin and shame, David prayed, “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation.” Good news: God can restore what you have lost and teach you things about yourself you didn’t know that make you a better person. And one of the first lessons He teaches us is about forgiveness. You can’t hold the club of unforgiveness over somebody else’s head and expect to find healing yourself. Forgiveness is just a word until you extend it.

Your peace of mind and confidence before God depend on your willingness to extend grace to others (See Mk 11:25). The second lesson He teaches us is about relationships. And some of those relationships will bring you more pain than pleasure. Judas’ betrayal, painful as it was, was instrumental in bringing about history’s greatest event—the cross. Does that mean anybody and everybody can walk into your life and do what they want? No; their access to you is limited by the shield of God’s purpose. Some people bring comfort while others build character, and you need both. The third lesson He teaches us is about “the yes zone.” “What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open” (Rev 3:7 NIV). So whether God opens the door or shuts it, trust Him, follow Him, and say, “Yes, Lord,” because He loves you and has only the best in mind for you.

Daily Devotional (March 9, 2024) A CHANGED HEART.

Scripture Reference: Romans 2:29 - But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

When we received Christ, we received His spirit, and all that we need to effectively live The Zoe into our spirits. We received regenerated Spirits, but the heart needs to catch up with the regeneration that the spirit already has. Scripture says that positionally (in Christ), we have received new hearts which are hearts of flesh that can be pierced and penetrated by God's word as against the former hearts of stone which were hostile to God and unwilling to receive Truth (See Ezekiel 26:36; it's a prophecy which has now been fulfilled by the reason of the indwelling of the Holy Ghost in us).

In Romans 2, Paul explains the importance of the genuine regeneration of the heart as against the ceremonial circumcision believed to be enough to make a man new. He goes on to explain that a change in the heart produced by the Spirit is what true circumcision is. A pierced heart, a heart that can be touched by God's word and is willing to turn towards repentance is a heart that is truly circumcised and our text points us to a proof of such a heart. Let's see. Our text says, "No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by the Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people."

A person with a regenerated heart does not seek approval from men, but is content with the approval the Lord gives. Such a man does not care about pleasing man, but His life's ambition is to hear "well done good and faithful servant". In other words, we can tell the state of a person's heart by the type of approval they revel in. We can decipher whether or not a man has surrendered his heart wholly to the Lord by checking to see how he responds to praise and criticism from men. A changed person wants to please God at the cost of displeasing man, while a person whose heart is not fully subdued by the Spirit seeks to please man at the cost of displeasing God. Such a person derives their sense of worth and importance solely from the praises of men, and when men turn around to criticize them, they feel worthless. That's no way to live. If you live for the acceptance of men, you will die from their rejection. In the first place, we must understand that we died with Christ and we now live His life. Dead men have no sense of reputation. Here's a call to assessment: whose pleasure and approval matters more to you? A changed person seeks to do God's will at the cost of displeasing men.

DECLARE THIS: I am satisfied with God's approval. I derive my worth and identity only from Christ, therefore I seek His pleasure always. I am satisfied as long as He is glorified. Glory!
