    A controversial, sensitive and fragile topic. And I guess it is one that many people would be wise not to talk about too much. In the multitude of words their wanteth not sin but he that refraineth his lips is wise (Proverbs 10:19). However, let us consider relevant comments from some of the wise men of antiquity.
    John the baptist said : A man can receive nothing except it be given him from heaven (St.John 3:27 in the KJV).
    Aristotle, partly quoting agathon said : It is impossible for what has happened not to have happened. For one thing is denied even to God : To make what has been done undone again.
    Mencius said things to this effect : Although nothing happens that is not due to destiny, one only accepts wilfully what is one's proper destiny : that is why he who understands destiny does not stand beneath a wall that is on the verge of collapse. It is no man's proper destiny to die in fetters. When a man walks forward something urges him on. When he stops and stands still something holds him back. It is not within his power to go forward or stop.
