Aristotle said : It is the mark of a trained mind never to expect more precision in the treatment of any subject than the nature of that subject permits.
Aristotle said : It is impossible for what has happened not to have happened. For one thing is denied even to God : To make what has been done undone again.
An ancient document called The Sentences Of The Syriac Menander contains this maxim : Trust not the people, the mob is fickle : People, water and fire are all equally uncontrollable.
The Tao Te Ching says : The sage is not learned. Learned men are not wise.

A controversial, sensitive and fragile topic. And I guess it is one that many people would be wise not to talk about too much. In the multitude of words their wanteth not sin but he that refraineth his lips is wise (Proverbs 10:19). However, let us consider relevant comments from some of the wise men of antiquity.
John the baptist said : A man can receive nothing except it be given him from heaven (St.John 3:27 in the KJV).
Aristotle, partly quoting agathon said : It is impossible for what has happened not to have happened. For one thing is denied even to God : To make what has been done undone again.
Mencius said things to this effect : Although nothing happens that is not due to destiny, one only accepts wilfully what is one's proper destiny : that is why he who understands destiny does not stand beneath a wall that is on the verge of collapse. It is no man's proper destiny to die in fetters. When a man walks forward something urges him on. When he stops and stands still something holds him back. It is not within his power to go forward or stop.
