Joel Osteen
Joel Osteen Ministries
Joel Osteen is a preacher who gives inspiration!
And that’s true, he is positive, his sermons are positive, his ministry is positive. The parishioners of his church are very successful people, as a result! How does he inspire millions of people around the world? Let's find out!
Joel Austen began preaching in 1999, but his ministry began long before: in 1982, Osteen, left his studies, returned from Houston and invited his father to create a television ministry in LakeWood Church. He became the leader and inspirer of this ministry.
Father preached, the son made video reports that everyone would like. Joel helped his father in organizing the ministry:
- he prepared his father for the scene;
- picked up suit and tie;
- worked with lighting and video equipment in the hall, for best results.
He became the best assistant for his father, but throughout this time he did not preach - not one word from the scene - it's just impossible to believe now! The person who is considered as the most popular preacher in the world never preached until 1999! It's an incredible fact for me. Joel Osteen explains this: "I was very shy, and did not imagine myself as a preacher on this scene. I was completely satisfied with my work. " But John Osteen (Joel's father) was very persistent, he asked his son to start preaching again and again, but the son always politely refused. But once Joel agreed to his father’s persuasions. On the birthday of John, they talked on the phone and the father once again invited his son to preach. He again refused, and after the conversation, he felt something unusual in his chest and heard a voice: "Joel - you should do it." After that he called his father and announced his decision. The family was amazed, and Joel, as he said, had the worst 7 days in his life. He decided to try once to convince his father and himself that it was not his occupation. But it did not work out that way. A few days later, the father went to the hospital and the first preaching of his son, with pride and tears in his eyes, he heard on the phone. In a few days more he passed away. Joel experienced a great shock, but he felt that he must go on stage and continue his father's ministry. And he did it. Joel Osteen's first sermons were similar in style to his father's sermon, but after a while he decided that his sermons should become as accessible and understandable to everyone as possible. He wanted his preaching not to be abstruse, perhaps that's why you can’t see lots of biblical characters in them, but there is many simple theses. So, in the beginning of 1999, Osteen became the chief pastor of the LakeWood church. At that moment, the church had about 6,000 parishioners, but due to the simplicity and positive attitude of Joel's sermons, the number of parishioners increased to over 40,000. And they decided to purchase a new spacious room for service. The new building for the church was Compaq Center. Now his ministry gathers up to 30,000 people every week in the church and hundreds of thousands behind TV screens around the world. Just imagine: hundreds of thousands of spectators! But as Joel Osteen's popularity grew, so did criticism about him. Many modern preachers criticize Osteen for the ministry in which well-being is placed first. Also Joel deliberately does not use such words as sin, devil, hell while he preaches. And as if in contrast to this often sound the theme of prosperity, both financial and family in his sermons. The preacher himself comments on the criticism as follows: "I almost never see or hear criticism, I do not read blogs and comments. Everyone I talk to, say that my sermons changed their lives. It is very important for me!" Joel says that while preaching about prosperity he does not mean money as such, prosperity. In his understanding success is in all endeavors: in work, family, in the upbringing of children and in many other things. A characteristic feature of his services is the fact that he does not call for donating any finances to the church or to him directly. He is not a paid pastor in the church, the main source of earnings is royalties from the sales of his books. Joel Osteen, not just the world-famous preacher, he is also the author of several bestsellers. They inspire people no less sermons, that’s why their sales are very large. From all the above, you could conclude that the main parishioners of the Church of Osteen are very rich people, but this is not so: you can see very influential people, members of the government in very expensive suits and ordinary people in trampled shoes on his services. This is explained by the availability and simplicity of the ministry and preaching of the pastor. As we wrote, Joel Osteen's style is simplicity and accessibility for all, a minimum of criticism and a positive message in the life of the listener. Joel Osteen (March 27, 2024) Daily Devotional:No Limits.
Today's Scripture: Yes, again and again they tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. Psalm 78:41, NKJV
Today's Word: when God brought the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, He told them that they would make it into the Promised Land, but along the way through the wilderness they had delays, setbacks, and opposition. They got discouraged and started complaining. “What are we going to eat? How are we going to survive? The people in the land look like giants. We don’t have a chance.” The whole time, God was whispering, “I’m in control. I have provision for every season. I’ll defeat those enemies for you.” But they let the doubt and what they saw talk them out of what God promised. They limited God, and that generation never went in.
What we do in the face of doubt and negative voices telling us God’s promises are not going to work out will determine whether we see the fullness of our destiny. God allows us to be in situations and puts things in our spirit that are too big for us to work out on our own. Let what God says override the doubt, and believe that it’s still going to happen.
Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You that You are the Holy One of Israel, and You are not limited by what limits me. Help me to remember that You can do the impossible when I’m tempted to doubt and listen to negative voices. I believe that what You say is still going to happen. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Joel Osteen (March 26, 2024) Daily Devotional: Joy in the Journey.
Today's Scripture: You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. Psalm 4:7, ESV
Today's Word: too often we’re going to enjoy life when we accomplish a goal, when the kids are raised, when our spouse changes, when we get the promotion. Our joy is always in the future, when we cross another finish line, so we’re always rushing to the next thing. The problem is there’s always something that keeps us upset. The enemy would love to deceive us into enduring life but not enjoying life. Having children but not enjoying them. Being married but unhappy about our spouse’s flaws. Having a house, a job, and opportunities, but always having some reason we’re not happy.
The key is to find joy in the journey. You’re not there yet, you’re still waiting for things to improve, still believing for that promise, but in the meantime you’re enjoying where you are while you’re on the way to where you’re going. You can do that because the Scripture says that the joy of the Lord, the joy He puts in your heart, is your strength. Keep Him first place, and you’ll always have His joy.
Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You that You have a destination for my life as well as a journey to enjoy while I’m getting there. Thank You that You are my joy and that in Your presence is the fullness of joy. I declare that I will walk with You and enjoy the people and blessings You have given me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Joel Osteen (March 25, 2024) Daily Devotional: Armloads of Blessing.
Today's Scripture: Those who went off with heavy hearts will come home laughing, with armloads of blessing. Psalm 126:6, MSG
Today's Word: we all have times when our hearts are heavy through a loss, a bad medical report, or being mistreated on the job. It can feel as though the pain will never change. But today’s Scripture says that even when your heart is heavy, you’re going to come home laughing, with armloads of blessing. God is going to bring you out of that trouble better than you were before.
Today, you may be carrying burdens, carrying sorrow, carrying pain, but God is about to do an exchange. Instead of carrying the sorrow, how about carrying joy? Instead of carrying the hurt and loneliness from a divorce, how about having someone great walk into your life? Now you’re laughing, now you’re dreaming, living a victorious life. That’s how good God is. You go out with a heavy heart, and you come back laughing, loaded down with blessings, with favor, with peace, with victory. You come out stronger, healthier, promoted, at a new level of your destiny. You’re not just out of the hardship; you’re amazed at what God has done.
Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You that You don’t fault me for the times when my heart is heavy and I don’t know what to do with the pain. Thank You that You find a way to exchange the trouble and sorrow with armloads of blessing. I believe that You will turn it around and bring me home laughing. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Joel Osteen (March 22, 2024) Daily Devotional: Erase It and Replace It.
Today's Scripture: You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3, ESV
Today's Word: what is your mind stayed on? What thoughts are you dwelling on throughout the day? Are your thoughts limiting you or empowering you? Are your thoughts stayed upon defeat and worry or upon victory, favor, breakthroughs, and abundance? Instead of keeping your mind stayed on your problems, on doubt, or on worry, keep it stayed on what God has promised you.
Here’s the simple principle: When a negative thought comes, erase it and replace it with a positive, faith-filled thought from God’s Word. Don’t leave your mind empty. Get your mind going in the right direction, and your life will go in the right direction. You’re going to draw in what you’re constantly thinking about. If you’re thinking “can’t do it” or “I’m not enough” or “this problem is too big” thoughts, you’re drawing in defeat. Why don’t you start erasing and replacing thoughts? How much further will you go, how much more of God’s favor will you see, if you guard your mind, if you are selective in what you’re dwelling on, if you keep it stayed on Him?
Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You that there is a place in my mind where I can stay my thoughts on You and abide in peace. Help me to unclutter my mind of all the negative thoughts that have gotten in. I will do my part to stay in faith and let You step in and do Your part. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Joel Osteen (March 21, 2024) Daily Devotional: Defy the Odds.
Today's Scripture: Jabez prayed to the God of Israel: “Bless me, O bless me! Give me land, large tracts of land. And provide your personal protection—don’t let evil hurt me.” God gave him what he asked. 1 Chronicles 4:10, MSG
Today's Word: because his birth caused his mother so much pain, she named her son Jabez, which means “pain, sorrow, suffering.” Every time someone said his name, they were prophesying defeat and failure, inferiority and insecurity. Her estimate of what his life would be like was very low. But despite that negative label, he had the boldness to ask big, that God would bless him with abundance and protection, which God did.
We all face times when the dream seems too great, the problem too strong, the opposition too powerful. People rule us out and say, “It’s never going to happen. You don’t have the resources or come from the right family. The medical report is not good.” All the facts say, “It’s impossible,” but God will have you underestimated on purpose. When it seems the least likely, as with Jabez, that’s when He shows up the greatest. Don’t get discouraged when you’re underestimated; it’s a setup. God put you in that position to show Himself strong. When you defy the odds, everyone will know His favor is on your life.
Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You that when the odds are against me, You are for me. Thank You that when I’m being underestimated, nothing and no one is more powerful than You, and that I can dare to pray bold prayers. I believe that You are going to bless me with abundance as You did Jabez. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
