Bill Johnson (September-11-2019) Sermon: Hearts Open to Holy Spirit Adventures. Another gem from Bill about holding our hearts open our on-going adventure with Holy Spirit. Many of the things we see happening in the gospels and book of Acts had never been seen before. Virtue flowed out of Jesus when the woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of His garment – but Jesus never taught that principle or commanded them to do it. Soon it was happening elsewhere – Paul’s apron and handkerchief carried an anointing for healing and deliverance. Peter’s shadow carried an anointing for healing – yet this concept had not been seen before – it was discovered by adventure, not command. If we think like servants we’ll only respond to commands. If we understand our friendship we’ll understand the lists we find in the bible are there to describe Him, not contain Him. Bill’s grandmother was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1903 and was able to write in perfect Chinese – yet that is not “on the list.” Quote: God will give you the manifested presence of the Holy Spirit to the same degree that you're willing to jealously guard what He's given you.”
