Daily Devotional (March 5, 2024) CHANGE YOUR MIND.

Scripture Reference: Matthew 5:6 - “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

Jesus did not come to satisfy our desires. He came to change them. He came to show us that there is something worth more than earthly things and material desires. He came to be our ultimate contentment. Jesus tells us in John 6:49-50 that He is the bread of life. He is the one we feed on. He is the one that satisfies us.

One of the workings of the gospel is that those that have genuinely received it place God's interests above theirs. In other words, we begin to seek first the kingdom of God and it's righteousness, not with the end goal of getting all other things added unto us, but because we understand that even after all other things pass away, God's kingdom and righteousness will remain. A proper understanding of the gospel helps us to by ourselves come to the conclusion that material things are secondary and the things of the Spirit are really the things worth our time, attention and interests. The full comprehension of the gospel is what makes a man renounce the world and all its pleasures. Make no mistakes, the world is very pleasurable and desirable, but the gospel of Christ helps us choose the pleasures of God's kingdom instead (See Psalm 16:11). We choose to enjoy God instead!

A genuine change in desire is the product of the inner workings of the Spirit in a man (remember, the work of God is in us and through us). Religion superimposes laws on people (See Colossians 2:21-23), but the gospel guides our hearts and helps us to genuinely prefer the things of God. Religion produces self-righteousness, the one that Jesus outrightly condemns.(See Luke 18:9-14). It tries to make us act righteous rather that actually be righteous. What we must understand is that we produce whatever we are inherently. A sinner will sin by default. A thief will steal because that's who is truly is. Pretense will eventually give way and the true character of a person will be revealed. We have to give room for the Word of God to purify our passions

Jesus came to help us come to the conclusion that He is worth desiring and our desires are worth denying.

DECLARE THIS: Only the things of God interest me. My addiction is to pray and study the Word. My focus is set on Christ alone. My passions are purified even as I give room for pruning and purging by God's Word.

Daily Devotional (December-20-2023) THE MIND OF CHRIST.

Scripture Reference: 1 Corinthians 2:16 - When we received Christ Jesus, we received His very life, and inherent in The Zoe is Christ's pattern of thinking and living. We received the mind of Jesus Christ. We've received the ability to see things like He sees things, see people like He sees people, and approach situations like He would. 1 John 4:17 tells us that we are exactly as Christ is here on the earth. Genesis 1:26 also brings to our understanding that we are made in God's image and after His likeness. After His similitude or in like fashion or manner. We were fashioned and designed to think like Christ. This would mean that we took on a new outlook on life at salvation. We signed up to see things and people from the God perspective.

Let's see Philippians 2:5-7. It says: "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:" The word mind in this scripture transliterates to mean "to entertain or have the same sentiments, to have the same mental disposition towards a situation or a certain direction, or to care about the same thing." Scripture is essentially telling us that we must think no differently from Jesus. He's the shepherd and we're the sheep. The sheep has no wisdom of its own, it relies solely on the shepherd's instructions. A sound mind is a mind that interprets situations with the mind of Christ, and 2 Timothy tells us that this is the mind that we've received! Glory to God!

We've received the faculty for superior thinking! We must understand that the mind of a person is extremely important. People are either drawn to how you think or are repelled by how you think. Take a moment and think about how valuable Jesus' mind is. Now, take a minute to appreciate the fact that you have that same mind! Because we have the mind of Jesus Christ, we know all things, we have insight into things, hence, we see solutions where others see problems. We are not in the dark as to how God operates and we are Christocentric! Halleluyah!

Proverbs 23:7 tells us that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. We've received Christ's mind, therefore we think Him and think like Him, therefore we are Christ on earth! Glory to God! As we see in Romans 1 2:2, we must continually renew our minds to align more and more with the mind of Christ which we've received. Put off your way of reasoning, and take on Christ's.

Declaration: I have the mind of Christ, therefore I think just like Him. I put off my way of thinking and living, and I take on Christ's. Glory!

Joel Osteen (November-19-2023) Daily Devotion: Detoxing Your Mind.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life. Proverbs 4:23, AMPC

TODAY'S WORD: When something is toxic, it’s poisonous; it can destroy you. When we go around dwelling on the wrong thoughts, thinking about what we can’t do or how we’ll never get ahead, those are toxic thoughts. Toxic thoughts left alone become like toxic waste that sinks into your heart. It will eventually contaminate your whole life. It affects your self-image, your attitude, your confidence, and ultimately, your success. That’s why the Scripture says to guard your heart because the condition of your heart and mind determines the condition of your whole life.

You need to go through a mental cleansing. Make the decision today to detox any negative, self-defeating thoughts by meditating on God’s promises instead. Make the decision to detox bitterness, detox low self-esteem, detox negative words that may have been spoken over you, detox condemnation. Make the decision to dwell on what God says about you. God says, “You are forgiven.” God says, “Your best days are in front of you.” God says, “I’ll restore the years that the enemy has stolen.” As you detox your mind and fill your thoughts with His promises, you’ll see His hand of blessing on your life. You’ll rise up higher, and you’ll live the abundant life He has for you!

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father in heaven, I invite You to purify my heart and mind by Your Spirit today. Wash me with the Word as I meditate on Your wonderful promises. Help me keep my mind focused on You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
