Stronger Than The Storm - Sheryl Brady Sunday Sermon March 10, 2024.  Scripture: Matt 7:24-27 KJV; Acts 27:41-44 KJV. Let's face it — along the way, there WILL be storms in life — especially during periods of transition. Fortunately, it's in those moments that you can tap into the strength of a solid foundation. When you’re rooted in God's Word, your faith makes you unshakeable ground, and your leading support system, the Holy Spirit, can take over to guide you through any uncertainties. Through His grace, you are already equipped for whatever comes. You just have to listen and be obedient. That’s what prepares you and makes you stronger than any situation!

John MacArthur (March-04-2024) Daily Devotional: Praying According to God's Word

"I, Daniel, observed in the books the number of the years which was revealed as the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years. So I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications" (Dan. 9:2-3).

God’s sovereignty doesn’t eliminate the need for prayer.

Have you ever wondered if it's biblical to pray for things that God has already promised in His Word to do? Is it proper to pray, say, for the salvation of sinners, knowing that God will redeem all the elect anyway, or for Christ's return, knowing that it is a sure thing? Daniel gives us a clear answer.

God prophesied through Jeremiah that the Babylonian Captivity would last seventy years (Jer. 25:11-12). When Daniel read that prophecy, he realized that the time was near for his people to return to their homeland. That inspired him to pray fervently.

In Daniel 9:19 he cries out, "O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and take action! For Thine own sake, O my God, do not delay." He was in tune with God's Word and understood that somehow his prayers were part of God's plan.

The exact relationship between God's sovereignty and our prayers is a mystery, but it is clear that somehow God's Word and our prayers are co-laborers in achieving God's will.

Like Daniel, you and I live in a time when many of God's promises seem near to fulfillment. Never before have world events pointed so dramatically to the nearness of the return of our Lord. Consequently, this is not the time for complacency or over-enthusiastic speculation. It is the time for careful Bible study and fervent prayer.

Suggestions for Prayer

  • Thank God for His faithfulness and the sure promises of His Word.
  • Ask Him for spiritual wisdom and insight to discern His will and then live accordingly.

TD Jakes (January-26-2024) Daily Devotional: The Power of God's Word.

Bible Quote: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." - John 1:1-3

Exploring the depths of John 1:1-3, we uncover the profound power and authority embedded in the Word of God. It's a revelation that transcends human understanding – the divine Word, which is God Himself, is the architect of all creation. Unlike human endeavors that rely on tangible tools and collective efforts, God's method of creation was singular and supreme: He spoke, and it was so.

This concept of creation through spoken word is not just a display of divine power, but a testament to the inerrant truthfulness of God. We often grapple with the concept of truth and lies, striving to uphold integrity in our words. Yet, for God, the notion of lying is not just a moral choice but an impossibility. His nature transcends our understanding of truth, for whatever He declares becomes reality. If God names something, it transforms to align with His proclamation. The phrase "God cannot lie" transcends a mere moral stance; it's an absolute characteristic of His divine nature.

The creative power of God's word was so potent that it brought into existence everything from the vast expanse of the universe to the minute intricacies of life on earth. He spoke light into darkness, separated the firmaments, filled the seas with life, and adorned the skies with celestial bodies. Each act of creation was not only effective but also flawless. In a universe devoid of external validation, God Himself acknowledged the perfection of His work, finding satisfaction in the harmony and beauty He had orchestrated.

We are reminded that this same God, who commanded the elements and they obeyed, who brought forth life with a word, is the one who speaks into our lives. His declarations over us are just as potent and transformative. When God declares us healed, blessed, or whole, it's a decree that transcends our circumstances. His word is the final authority, the ultimate truth that shapes our reality.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we stand in awe of Your mighty power, the power that spoke the universe into existence. Help us to trust in Your word, knowing that what You declare over our lives is the ultimate truth. May we find comfort and strength in Your promises, and may our lives reflect the reality of Your transformative words. Amen.

Daily Devotional (January-26-2024) TODAY'S ASSURANCE OF GOD'S WORD

Scripture Reference: Isaiah 8:11-14 ,TLB - “The Lord has said to me in the strongest terms: "Do not think like everyone else does. Do not be afraid that some plan conceived behind closed doors will be the end of you. Do not fear anything except the Lord Almighty. He alone is the Holy One. If you fear him, you need fear nothing else.He will keep you safe…”

A year starts with many predictions and assumptions that leaves many into fear and panic. A lot of diabolical informations have been spread abroad. Take God's words more seriously and you will be amazed with the kind of results you will be.

God is telling us not to think like everyone else around us. Do not have the reaction of fear you see in others. God will keep you and your family safe from danger. God is able to keep safe anything you commit to Him.

Do not be afraid of the plans and conspiracies of evil, wicked and envious people. They may plan, but your God has made adequate security arrangements for you. They can’t touch you.

God is saying do not fear anything (and anyone) except Him (God). He alone is God. Some men want to be feared. They give the impression they are “powerful”. There is only one God. Fear Him alone. Fear no man. Your God has no peers.

Today’s passage is a very comforting one of assurance of our safety from God. We hear a lot of bad news, and God knows we can be filled with fear and uncertainty. He sees it.

God wants us to be sober and vigilant, but does not want us to be afraid of what the devil and evil people are doing or can do. Fear is out of the question. Wisdom? Yes. Respect? Yes. Fear? No!

Being sober and vigilant simply means God wants us to be alert and observant, quickly noticing unusual and dangerous things, and acting in a timely manner to prevent harm.

PRAYER - I believe in the assurance of my safety and security in Christ, I give you my family and business and I declare that I'm protected and shielded at all sides. I refuse to fear and to accept any news that is not of God. Amen.

David Jeremiah (December-29-2023) Daily Devotional: Feed on God's Word.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. - 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Recommended Reading: 2 Timothy 3:10-17 - THE MAN OF GOD AND THE WORD OF GOD
10 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, 11 persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Six hundred pounds of butter per day; 1,500 pounds of flour per day; 250,000 eggs per week; and 170,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables—all this food is needed for one cruise ship carrying 3,500 passengers! Before each cruise begins, the ship is loaded with all the provisions the kitchen staff needs to keep everyone on board happy and well-fed![1]

In 2 Timothy 3:17 Paul tells us that God’s Word is given to us so that we will be “thoroughly equipped for every good work.” As we study Scripture, we are equipped for whatever comes our way. The truths and promises found in God’s Word make their way into our heart and life, giving us strength to persevere in trials and courage to stand for Christ.

Just as cruise ships load tons of food before each departure, so we must continually fill our mind with God’s Word. And as we do, we will be equipped to serve God each moment of the day. Begin the new year by feeding your mind with God’s Word.

It is impossible to practice godliness without a constant, consistent, and balanced intake of the Word of God in our lives. - Jerry Bridges
