Daily Devotional (December 15, 2024) AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

Scripture Reference: Philippians 4:6 - “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

There are many things that can capture our attention in our faith walk with God. Sometimes, things will work out for us, and other times, they may not. However, the scriptures instruct us not to give in to worry and anxiety. Instead, we should pray about everything, knowing that God hears and answers our prayers. We should remember that whatever we go through, God is with us.

Since we know that God is ever-present, we should always be full of gratitude. We should be grateful to God at all times, whether in good or bad times. Gratefulness is an attitude we should develop as believers. Even if God does nothing more for us, we still have many reasons to be grateful to Him. We should be grateful for the air we breathe and for being in good health. These are great testimonies for which we should be grateful to God.

One reason we are stuck in ingratitude is that we fix our eyes on the things that are not working, while ignoring the multitude of things that are working. When we focus too much on the things that are not working, we lose sight of the good things that come our way. Sometimes, we may feel that God has disappointed us and that His words to us did not come to pass. But God never disappoints, and His yes is yea and amen. It is just a matter of time.

All we have to do is be thankful and grateful to God as we patiently wait for His words to be fulfilled in our lives. The Spirit of God that we have received is always positive. He is always looking on the bright side of things. The Spirit of God will always point our attention to what is good and working, even when things appear gloomy.

We should always trust God, irrespective of what is happening around us, hoping that things will work out for us. Let’s be grateful for what God has done for us and trust Him to do more.

Confession - Thank You, Lord, for all You have done and for all You will continue to do. I place my trust in You and remain grateful, knowing that You are faithful and Your love for me is everlasting.
