Daily Devotional (November-07-2024) PRAY TO KNOW.

Scripture Reference: 1 Thessalonians 2:13-14 - For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

Bible study and prayer go hand in hand. None is more important than the other.

Bible study gives depth, prayer gives spread/ reach. Someone who only prays without dedicating quality time to Bible study would have reach and spread but will walk in error. Someone who studies without praying would have depth but would have no reach. The two complement each other. We must be wholly committed to prayer and the ministry of the word.

As believers, we don't just pray. We pray with the truth of the word. We learn what to pray as we study God's word, in other words, the knowledge of God's word informs and shapes our prayers. Before you erect an altar or prayer, first erect an altar of knowledge. A believer without the accurate and precise knowledge of the word of is bound to keep praying amiss. On the one hand, we study to know what and how to pray, and on the other hand, we pray to understand what we read. We pray to have clarity of thoughts. We pray to prepare our minds to receive the word and understand it. We pray, so that we may know.

Paul's prayer for the church in Ephesus in order that they might know. He prays that God grants them the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God, that the eyes of their understanding being enlightened, to what end? That they may know what is the hope of His calling and the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the Saints. This is similar to what Jesus did in Luke 24:45. Pray to know before and as you study, and then pray (with) what you now know.

AFFIRMATION: I affirm that I am granted the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God, therefore I am perpetually illuminated by the truth of the scriptures. Revelation knowledge does not elude me, rather, I fully take hold of, lay hold on and comprehend the light in the word of God. Glory!
