Christian Daily Devotional (May 6, 2025) THE GIFTS OF POWER.

Scripture Reference: 1 Corinthians 12:7-10(KJV) - "But the Manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the Word of Wisdom; to another the Word of Knowledge by the Same Spirit; To another Faith by the Same Spirit; to another the Gifts of Healing by the Same Spirit; To another the Working of Miracles; to another Prophecy; to another Discerning of spirits; to another Diverse Kinds of Tongues; to another the Interpretation of Tongues."

According to the passage above, we can see Nine Gifts or Manifestations of the Spirit. They are divided into Three Categories or Clusters of Three: The Revelation Gifts, the Utterance Gifts and the Power Gifts. Today we would be examining the Power Gifts which are the Gifts of Healings, the Gift of Faith or Supernatural Faith and the Gift of Working of Miracles. These Gifts are the Gifts that 'do' something. Whenever a Christian believer is functioning in any of the Power Gifts, the Holy Spirit enables him to do Supernaturally, that which he or she would not be able to do normally or naturally.

In Joshua Chapter Ten, the Holy Scriptures describe how Joshua the son of Nun commanded the Sun and Moon to stand still during the battle in defence of the Gibeonites: "And the Sun stood still, and the Moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies... So, the Sun stood still in the midst of Heaven and hasted not to go down about a whole day" (verse 13). Here, the Gift of Supernatural Faith was in manifestation, which made it possible for Joshua to command the Sun and the Moon to stand still, something that is absolutely impossible naturally speaking.

In Acts 3:1-10, Apostles Peter and John manifested the Gift of Working of Miracles. The major difference between the Gift of Faith and the Working of Miracles is that the former is usually passive while the latter is usually active. What this means is that you don't just speak to activate the Working of Miracles: You initiate something or also take action to effect the Miracle. During the operation of the Gift of Faith, you receive the manifestation of a Divine Intervention without being actively involved. After Peter commanded the lame man to rise up and walk in the Name of Jesus, the Holy Bible declares that "he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength"(verse 7).

In the case of the Gifts of Healings, notice that the "Gifts" are pluralized. This is because different individuals are gifted with the Ability to heal certain different categories of sicknesses different from what another individual who also has the Same Gift of Healing is enabled to heal. In other words, one person with the Gift of Healing will find that every time he ministers to someone with a particular sickness or infirmity, he gets results which he doesn't often get with some other sickness. So, while one individual may find that he's able to always heal deaf people, some other person may find he's able to always heal cripples, and so on and so forth. The entire bottom line is that those who are sick get healed by the Healing Power of God expressed through His Willing Vessels.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we come humbly asking You for the Grace to be True Representatives of Your Presence and Your Power. Thank You for making these Supernatural Gifts and Enablements available to us. Please help us to use them maximally for Your Glory in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.
