Christian Daily Devotion (February-07-2023) The Joy In Prayer.
Scripture Reference: "And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him." 1 John 5:14-15. A M P Version
Indeed prayer is our response to God who has called us and selected us to a heavenly fellowship with all glory and honour. The one that called us to this fellowship is not deaf, the one that called us to this great fellowship has hears that listens with all love. Prayer here is intentional because this comes with our confidence in Him. Meaning, we draw our confidence from Him knowing that He has called us to listen to us.
The Bible says men always ought to pray because we have a standing appointment that doesn't depend on how perfect we appear but on our willingness to respond. Our confidence, our assurance comes from the fact that He has given us the privilege to make any request not according to worldly competitions.
The privilege of boldness which we have in Him is that if we ask anything according to His will which is in agreement with His own plan for us, He listens to and hears us. The JOY in prayer is that when ever you open your mouth you are assured that God on the other hand listens to and hears you not to point out your faults or condemn you. Hallelujah!!
Prayer is the joyful response of the one who, with a heart full of faith, trust in the living God. He invited us to pray because He intended to answer. So my dear, the greatest part of prayer isn't the prayer itself; it's the answer. Our passage today says, if God listens to us then we positively know that He with a settled and absolute knowledge that we have the requests made of Him. We haven't had a great prayer time if we didn't receive answers to our prayer! Irrespective of what we have said in prayer, it's God's response that truly matters.
PRAYER: Dear Father, thank you for the opportunity of prayer; a channel for rich fellowship with you. I'm assured in you with all boldness that my life is hidden and therefore safe with you in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
