Daily Devotional (June-20-2023) THE MIND OF CHRIST.
Scripture Reference: 1 Corinthians 2:16 - “For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.”
When we received Christ Jesus, we received His very life, and inherent in The Zoe is Christ's pattern of thinking and living. We received the mind of Jesus Christ. We've received the ability to see things like He sees things, see people like He sees people, and approach situations like He would.
1 John 4:17 tells us that we are exactly as Christ is here on the earth. Genesis 1:26 also brings to our understanding that we are made in God's image and after His likeness. We understand that the word"likeness" means demûth. Demüth means similitude or in like fashion or manner. We were fashioned and designed to think like Christ. This would mean that we took on a new outlook on life at salvation. We signed up to relegate our human logic and intellect. We signed up to see things and people differently. If every other person is seeing a sinner, a believer must see a blood-bought citizen of heaven, and must therefore go and preach to such a person rather than condemning that person. Let's see Philippians 2:5-7. It says:
"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:"
The word mind in this scripture transliterates to mean phroneō which means to entertain or have the same sentiments, to have the same mental disposition towards a situation or a certain direction, or to care about the same thing. Scripture is essentially telling us that we must think no differently from Jesus. He's the shepherd and we're the sheep. The sheep has no wisdom of its own, it relies solely on the shepherd's instructions.
A sound mind is a mind that interprets situations with the mind of Christ, and 2 Timothy tells us that this is the mind that we've received! Glory to God! We've received the faculty for superior thinking! We must understand that the mind of a person is extremely important. People are either drawn to how you think or are repelled by how you think. Take a moment and think about how valuable Jesus' mind is. Now, take a minute to appreciate the fact that you have that same mind! Because we have the mind of Jesus Christ, we walk in unbroken phronesis (phronesis is the wisdom force of God), We know all things, we have insight into things, hence, we see solutions where others see problems. We are not in the dark as to how God operates and we are Christocentric! Halleluyah!
Finally, Proverbs 23:7 tells us that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. We've received Christ's mind, therefore we think Him and think like Him, therefore we are Christ on earth! Glory to God! As we see in Romans 12:2, we must continually renew our minds to align more and more with the mind of Christ which we've received. Put off your way of reasoning, and take on Christ's.
AFFIRMATION: I affirm that I have the mind of Christ, therefore I think just like Him. I put off my way of thinking and living, and I take on Christ's. Glory!
