Daily Devotional (June-15-2023) THE SPIRITUAL MAN.
Scripture Reference: 1 Corinthians 2:14-15 - “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.”
In comparison with the natural man, the spiritual man lives and operates by the leading of the Spirit. The spiritual man is a man that does not put confidence in his/her capabilities, but lives according to the dictates of the Spirit. In simple terms, the spiritual man is Spirit- led rather than sensually led.
The spiritual man gauges things by the Spirit and can discern wisdom in the things of the Spirit. The Spiritual man knows that things don't have to make logical sense when the Holy Spirit is the one leading. Unlike the natural man who is controlled by his senses and therefore walks by sight, the spiritual man walks and lives by faith. He therefore appreciates and values the gospel. The spiritual man is passionate about preaching the gospel to everyone that is yet to hear or receive it.
The Spiritual man is regarded as foolish according to the standards of the world but is wise regarding the things of the Spirit. The Spiritual man believes that life is spiritual, and therefore relies on the influence of the Spirit to operate here on earth. The spiritual man treasures things that are of spiritual value and prioritizes them over earthly material things. The spiritual man is on a journey of endless renewal of the mind and transformation. The spiritual man does not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, because he walks in the Spirit.
Finally, the spiritual man is able to understand and make sense of the scriptures because he has the ability to appreciate the light in the Word of God. The spiritual man is receptive to the Word and goes after precise and accurate knowledge. He is not atmospheric, but Christocentric. The spiritual man is willing and able to live based on what God's word says because he understands that God's word is the most superior authority.
AFFIRMATION: I affirm that I am born of the Spirit and led by the Spirit. I am able to receive and appreciate the engrafted word of God. The eyes of my understanding are enlightened, hence, I receive the light of the word. I am a spirit having a human experience, and I walk in the consciousness of this. Glory!
