HEAR OUR PRAYER - Jack Hibbs Weekly Devotional (November-20-2023). “O LORD, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known…” Habakkuk 3:2
God’s desire to bring Israel into a place of rich fulfillment is the same for believers today. But like Israel of old, what the Lord desires and what comes to pass is not always the same. Yes, He is sovereign. And yes, He will nudge us to follow close behind Him and experience His good hand in our lives. But we must exercise our right of choice responsibly.
Throughout the Bible, God shows Himself to be “merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy” (Psalm 103:8). To those pursuing a parched path of your choosing, He would say, “Return to Me, and experience times of refreshing and revival in My presence.” God wants to rekindle the fading ember that once burned bright with holy zeal and bring new life into your soul. All He asks in return is that you let His Spirit lead you according to His Word and His way.
Habakkuk prayed, “Revive us in our day.” May his prayer be our prayer. God, in our time, make known to us the glory of Your presence—for we have heard of Your fame, and stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord.
Awaiting His Return.
