Jentezen Franklin Daily Devotional (August 30, 2025) When You Don’t Know, Trust That God Knows.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Sometimes life just doesn’t make sense. Things happen, hardships come, and we ask, “Why?” But the truth is, we don’t always know why. And that’s okay because God does. The Bible reminds us in Jeremiah 29:11 that even when a nation is in ruins, God speaks hope over His people. He says, “I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you.” Do you hear that? God is not against you. He’s not out to hurt you. His plan is full of hope and a future.

If you’ve been through a divorce, lost a job, battled addiction, or faced some dark valleys, this promise is for you. You may not understand what’s happening right now, but God knows what He’s doing. When you feel like you have no answers, keep talking to Him. Don’t stop walking with Him, singing to Him, and trusting Him, even when you don’t understand.

Remember Saul of Tarsus, a man who persecuted Christians with no mercy. God transformed him completely, changing his name to Paul and using him to write much of the New Testament. That’s how powerful God’s plans are. When Paul asked, “Who are You, Lord?” and “What would You have me to do?” his life was forever changed. If you haven’t asked those questions yet, it might be because you haven’t yet met Jesus. And God is ready to meet you right now.

No matter where you are today - broken, lost, or just unsure - God knows what He’s going to do.

God is inviting you to trust Him, surrender your life to Him, and watch Him turn your mess into a message.

Give Him your worries, your pain, your questions. And then lift your hands, praise Him in faith, and say, “Lord, I don’t understand, but I trust You.”

Prayer: Lord, I don’t know all the answers. I don’t understand my circumstances, but I choose to trust you. Help me to walk by faith, not by sight. Thank you for your plans for my good, for hope, and for a future. Take my life, my pain, and my questions, and turn them into your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
