Jentezen Franklin Daily Devotional (April 25, 2025) Winning Words,

“Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.” Romans 4:20-21

Hosea 14:2 is a powerful verse. It says, “Take with you words and turn to the Lord.” Take words with you. Don’t just go to God this week and say, “Lord, I don’t know what your will is.” Find specific scriptures for your situation. When you retreat to your place of prayer, remind God of His promises. When you do this, you will see fear dissipate, and anxiety fade away.

There is a great lesson in the story of David and Goliath. First thing in the morning, for 40 days, Goliath put on his armor, walked out onto the battlefield, and talked trash. He belittled God and humiliated the Hebrew people. The very first thing they heard in their tents as the sun came up was the voice of negative words, curses, and defilement of God coming out of Goliath’s mouth. Then, he would come back and do this again each evening. The enemy’s strategy is for your first thoughts in the morning to be negative and for your last thoughts before bed to be defeating so that you are locked in a helpless frame of mind.

Goliath kept this going each day until one day, little David showed up. David was a worshipper and a man of great faith, and when he heard this giant out there talking trash morning and night, he couldn’t take it anymore and said, “Who is this uncircumcised philistine?” Circumcision was the mark of the covenant. God told Abraham to circumcise all the male children on the eighth day of their life, signifying that He had a covenant with them that He would fight their battles. So David was saying (paraphrased), “When I was only eight days old, I received the mark of the covenant, and I want you to know that I have more power than this Goliath standing out there talking trash because all of heaven’s angels stand behind me.” Then David boldly declared to Goliath, “And the same God that helped me kill the bear and the lion…He will deliver you into my hand!” Then, he ran out and defeated Goliath. Notice that David proclaimed the victory before he saw the victory.

We need to stop confessing the enemy’s will for our life and start confessing God’s will! Don’t help the enemy win with your words. Speak victory in every situation. Declare victory even when you don’t see it yet.
