Joel Osteen Ministries

Joel Osteen is a preacher who gives inspiration!

And that’s true, he is positive, his sermons are positive, his ministry is positive. The parishioners of his church are very successful people, as a result! How does he inspire millions of people around the world? Let's find out!

Joel Austen began preaching in 1999, but his ministry began long before: in 1982, Osteen, left his studies, returned from Houston and invited his father to create a television ministry in LakeWood Church. He became the leader and inspirer of this ministry.

Father preached, the son made video reports that everyone would like. Joel helped his father in organizing the ministry:

  • he prepared his father for the scene;
  • picked up suit and tie;
  • worked with lighting and video equipment in the hall, for best results.

Some details

He became the best assistant for his father, but throughout this time he did not preach - not one word from the scene - it's just impossible to believe now! The person who is considered as the most popular preacher in the world never preached until 1999! It's an incredible fact for me. Joel Osteen explains this: "I was very shy, and did not imagine myself as a preacher on this scene. I was completely satisfied with my work. " But John Osteen (Joel's father) was very persistent, he asked his son to start preaching again and again, but the son always politely refused. But once Joel agreed to his father’s persuasions. On the birthday of John, they talked on the phone and the father once again invited his son to preach. He again refused, and after the conversation, he felt something unusual in his chest and heard a voice: "Joel - you should do it." After that he called his father and announced his decision. The family was amazed, and Joel, as he said, had the worst 7 days in his life. He decided to try once to convince his father and himself that it was not his occupation. But it did not work out that way.

A few days later, the father went to the hospital and the first preaching of his son, with pride and tears in his eyes, he heard on the phone. In a few days more he passed away. Joel experienced a great shock, but he felt that he must go on stage and continue his father's ministry. And he did it.

Joel Osteen's first sermons were similar in style to his father's sermon, but after a while he decided that his sermons should become as accessible and understandable to everyone as possible. He wanted his preaching not to be abstruse, perhaps that's why you can’t see lots of biblical characters in them, but there is many simple theses.

So, in the beginning of 1999, Osteen became the chief pastor of the LakeWood church. At that moment, the church had about 6,000 parishioners, but due to the simplicity and positive attitude of Joel's sermons, the number of parishioners increased to over 40,000. And they decided to purchase a new spacious room for service. The new building for the church was Compaq Center.

Now his ministry gathers up to 30,000 people every week in the church and hundreds of thousands behind TV screens around the world. Just imagine: hundreds of thousands of spectators!

But as Joel Osteen's popularity grew, so did criticism about him. Many modern preachers criticize Osteen for the ministry in which well-being is placed first. Also Joel deliberately does not use such words as sin, devil, hell while he preaches. And as if in contrast to this often sound the theme of prosperity, both financial and family in his sermons. The preacher himself comments on the criticism as follows: "I almost never see or hear criticism, I do not read blogs and comments. Everyone I talk to, say that my sermons changed their lives. It is very important for me!"

Joel says that while preaching about prosperity he does not mean money as such, prosperity. In his understanding success is in all endeavors: in work, family, in the upbringing of children and in many other things. A characteristic feature of his services is the fact that he does not call for donating any finances to the church or to him directly. He is not a paid pastor in the church, the main source of earnings is royalties from the sales of his books. Joel Osteen, not just the world-famous preacher, he is also the author of several bestsellers. They inspire people no less sermons, that’s why their sales are very large.

From all the above, you could conclude that the main parishioners of the Church of Osteen are very rich people, but this is not so: you can see very influential people, members of the government in very expensive suits and ordinary people in trampled shoes on his services. This is explained by the availability and simplicity of the ministry and preaching of the pastor.

As we wrote, Joel Osteen's style is simplicity and accessibility for all, a minimum of criticism and a positive message in the life of the listener.

On our website we offer you new sermons of the author. To not miss anything new - subscribe to updates and always stay tuned!

Joel Osteen (September-24-2021) Today's Word: Yesterday’s Baggage

Today's Scripture: “Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sins are put out of sight.” Romans 4:7, NLT

Today's Word: We all make mistakes, and some are very painful. Maybe you need to bury mistakes you made. You’ve lived feeling guilty, condemned, and down on yourself long enough. Have a funeral and put it behind you. No more talking about it. No more letting the accuser make you feel unworthy. When the defeat, the mistake, or the hurt comes back up on the movie screen of your mind, change the channel. Have the attitude, “I’m not living in regret and rehearsing failures. I’m moving forward.”

Pay attention to what you’re dwelling on all day. Listen to what you’re saying. How much time and energy are you giving to the negative things of your past—the guilt, the offenses, the blame, the discouragement? You only have so much emotional energy each day. When you spend that energy on negative things, rehearsing your failures and being down on yourself, that’s energy you should be using to move forward. Drop yesterday’s negative baggage. Let it go.

A Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You that You’ve given me the power to stop the negative things from my past that play and replay in my mind. I refuse to continue to live in regret and be down on myself. I declare that I am dropping the baggage and moving forward. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Joel Osteen (September-23-2021) Watch Message: Get Your Passion Back. Keep believing, keep dreaming, keep growing. God didn’t bring you this far to leave you. It may not turn around as soon as you would like, but how do you know God is not going to prosper you in the difficulty, cause you to flourish in the fire, take you to new levels in the midst of that challenge.

Joel Osteen (September-23-2021) Today's Word: Who’s Your Architect?

Today's Scripture: And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19, NKJV

Today's Word: When an architect designs a skyscraper, he calculates all the loads, how much each floor will weigh, and how much wind stress it will face so it can withstand all the pressures it will bear. The good news is that your architect is the Most High God. He not only designed solar systems and mountain ranges, He designed you. When He laid out the plan for your life, He calculated everything you would face—all the pressure, the weight, the elements. He took into account every hurt, injustice, loss, and mistake. He designed your beams thick enough and your foundation deep enough. He put in you the strength, the fortitude, and the tenacity that no matter what comes against you, it will not be too much to bear. You’ve been designed to withstand the opposition, overcome the injustice, and endure till the dream comes to pass.

When you’re tempted to think, “I can’t handle this,” tell yourself, “I am well able. My God shall supply all my needs in Christ Jesus.”

A Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You that You are my architect, and You are working through a specific plan for my life. Thank You that You have designed me to withstand whatever comes against me. I believe that You are supplying all my needs and will finish what You started. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Joel Osteen (September-22-2021) Today's Word: The Final Word

Today's Scripture: Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” John 2:19, NIV

Today's Word: Over two thousand years ago, Satan and all the forces of darkness thought they had finally defeated Jesus on the cross. They didn’t realize that Jesus had prophesied not only His death but His resurrection three days later. While the enemy celebrated, Jesus rose up, took away the keys of death and hell, and said, “I am He that lives. I was dead, but I am alive forevermore.”

Whatever you face, God has the final word. Go back to those places where you quit believing and stir up your faith. Who told you it was over? That wasn’t the final word. Your story doesn’t end in defeat but in victory. Along the way there may be some setbacks, times when it looks impossible, but you’re about to see God show out. There’s a sudden change coming—sudden healing, sudden opportunities, sudden promotion, sudden breakthroughs. What you thought was permanent is about to change in your favor. You’re going to rise higher, accomplish dreams, and reach the fullness of your destiny

A Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You that no matter what challenges and setbacks I face, You have the final word over all things. Thank You that it’s never over until You say it’s over. I believe that You are breaking the powers of darkness, and victory is on the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Joel Osteen - Watch Message: Moments Of Favor. The reason God is asking you to do something that’s beyond your ability, is He’s about to show you His favor like you’ve never seen. It looks too hard, but if you’ll take that step of faith, you’ll discover that God has gone before you. He’s going to cause things to fall into place. It’s going to be easier than you think.

Joel Osteen (September-21-2021) Today's Word: Wipe the Slate Clean

Today's Scripture: And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude]… Ephesians 4:23, AMPC

Today's Word: The apostle Paul says that every day you need to put on a fresh new attitude. If you don’t start anew, you’ll bring all the negative from yesterday into today. You do that week after week and before long you’ll be critical, condescending, negative, and seeing the worst. “I don’t like my job. My house is too small. I’ll never get well.” That is an old sour attitude.

When you wake up each morning, you need to say, “Father, thank You that this day is a gift. Everything may not be perfect, but I’m grateful to be alive, grateful for my family, grateful for today’s opportunities. I’m going to make the most of this day.” That’s not just being positive, that’s putting on a fresh new attitude. You get rid of anything from yesterday that’s weighing you down and wipe the slate clean. Let go of the disappointments, let go of what didn’t work out, get your mind going in the right direction, and you’ll see God show out in your life.

A Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You that You are on the throne, and You’ve given me this day as a gift to live for You. Thank You that I can wipe yesterday’s slate clean and start with a fresh new attitude. I’m going to be my best and make the most of this day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Joel Osteen (September-20-2021) Today's Word: Serve Faithfully

Today's Scripture: “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.” Matthew 25:21, ESV

Today's Word: There are times in life when we feel like we’re doing the right thing but not making progress. It’s easy to get discouraged and lose our passion. One test we all have to pass is being faithful when nothing new is happening. We’re just going to work, coming home, taking care of children, doing the same thing again. Will you stay faithful when it feels like you’re going in circles?

When you’re faithful in the routine, something is happening that you can’t see. Your character is being developed. Your spiritual muscles are getting stronger. The routineness of life is not exciting, but it’s necessary. You won’t become all you were created to be without being your best when it’s mundane. When you’re doing the right thing with a good attitude month after month, you’re being prepared for where God is taking you. When God can trust you to be faithful in the ordinary, He will take you into the extraordinary. When you’re faithful in average days, you will see exceptional days.

A Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You for calling me to be faithful in the routine, knowing that You are preparing me for the new things You have in store. Thank You that You will take me from the ordinary to the extraordinary. I’m going to keep being my best, serving and loving right where I am. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
