Joel Osteen (July 26, 2025) Daily Devotional: Surprised by His Goodness.
So Joseph assigned the best land of Egypt…to his father and his brothers, and he settled them there, just as Pharaoh had commanded. And Joseph provided food for his father and his brothers in amounts appropriate to the number of their dependents, including the smallest children. Genesis 47:11–12, NLT
Today's Word: When a great famine came in the land, Joseph was in charge of the food supply of Egypt. Joseph’s father, Jacob, sent his other sons to Egypt to purchase food. These brothers, the same ones who had sold Joseph into slavery and hardship thirteen years earlier, showed up at the palace. They didn’t recognize Joseph and never dreamed he would have such a position, especially after what they had done to him. Instead of trying to get even with them, Joseph was kind to them. He not only gave them food, but he had them bring their father and all their families to live with him. God will put people in positions of influence so that when you show up, they’ll recognize you. You won’t know them, but they’re ordained to be good to you and go out of their way to help you, even when you don’t deserve it. They’ll open a door, give you the promotion, and help you rise higher. It’s not something you can make happen. God is going to surprise you with His goodness.
Prayer For Today: “Father, thank You for showing me Your mercy, Your kindness, and Your goodness over and over when I didn’t begin to deserve it. Thank You for the people You’ve ordained to come across my path. I believe that You are directing my steps and orchestrating everything around me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
