Joyce Meyer (February-07-2024) Daily Devotion: God Will Help You.

God has been showing me that we need to be aware of His present provisions now, and not just in the future. In Psalm 28:7, David said of God...I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I shall thank Him and praise Him (AMP). He did not say, “I will be helped."

Wait on God, because God’s help will strengthen you to behave in a godly way all day long if you trust in Him. Even while you wait on God to manifest His plan, your heart can greatly rejoice in His presence. Tell someone something good that God has done for you, and then watch Him move in the presence of your praise.

Prayer Starter: Father, You are the great “I am,” and I thank You for being with me...right here, right now. Help me today to recognize Your goodness and begin expecting You to show up in my life in mighty ways. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Rick Warren (November-19-2023) Daily Devotional: Focus on People Who Want to Help

“James, Peter, and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognized the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co-workers.” Galatians 2:9 (NLT)

Not everyone will want to be part of your God-given plans—and that’s okay. Continue to love everyone, but only invest in the willing.

In other words, focus on those who want to help you. That was Jesus’ strategy. He loved everyone; he fed the 5,000 and preached to the crowd. But he only trained 70, discipled 12, and mentored three. His focus grew stronger with fewer people.

The three people Jesus mentored were Peter, James, and John. Only Peter, James, and John went up on the Mount of Transfiguration. Only Peter, James, and John were brought into the Garden of Gethsemane “a little farther” (Matthew 26:39 NIV) to pray with Jesus. And only Peter, James, and John witnessed Peter’s mother-in-law being healed.

Was Jesus playing favorites? Yes. He was investing the maximum amount of time with those who would bear the maximum responsibility. And his strategy worked. Later in the Bible—in the book of Galatians—Paul calls Peter, James, and John the “pillars of the church” (Galatians 2:9 NLT).

But not everyone wanted to be part of Jesus’ mission. He had a defector named Judas, one of his 12 disciples. Even though Judas’ betrayal caused enormous damage, Jesus kept his focus on the 11 faithful men, not the unfaithful one.

Some people in your life will disappoint or betray you. When this happens, remember: Don’t waste time judging them. The Bible says, “Why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat” (Romans 14:10 NIV). They are accountable to God, not to you.

Nehemiah didn’t waste time judging the people who let him down. When nobles from the town of Tekoa didn’t help rebuild their section of Jerusalem’s walls, Nehemiah said, “Their leaders refused to work with the construction supervisors” (Nehemiah 3:5 NLT). That’s all he said. Nehemiah didn’t speculate or try to guess their motivation. He knew time spent judging them would be wasted time.

When someone refuses to help you accomplish what God has called you to do, don’t fret about it. Just let God be God—and keep your focus on the people who want to help.

Talk It Over

  • Who has invested in you because you supported their dreams and goals? What did you accomplish together?
  • How does it encourage you to know that even Jesus had people who didn’t support him, yet he accomplished the greatest act of all time by “personally [carrying] our sins in his body on the cross” (1 Peter 2:24 NLT)?
  • In what ways do you struggle to love those who don’t support you?

Joyce Meyer (November-03-2023) Daily Devotional: Our Helper.

Quite often, we feel that we are alone and have no one to help us, but Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would be with us always and that He is our “Helper.” One of the most powerful prayers we can pray is, “Help me, Lord,” and we should pray it several times every day. It is a simple three-word prayer that declares that we are depending on the Holy Spirit and we know we cannot do anything without Him.

Don’t struggle along in life, trying to do things by yourself, when you have the greatest Helper in the world available to you. James said that …you do not have, because you do not ask (James 4:2 AMPC), so I encourage you to start asking more often and expect to get more help than ever before.

Prayer of the Day: Father, through Your Holy Spirit, help me today and every day with everything I do. I am totally dependent on You!

David Jeremiah (November-02-2023) Daily Devotional: Need Some Help?

Are [angels] not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? - Hebrews 1:14

Recommended Reading: Luke 22:41-43 - And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.

“Need some help?” How encouraging it is to hear those words! They may come from a neighbor who sees we could use an extra set of hands. Or they may come from a complete stranger when we’ve had to pull to the side of the road with a flat tire. We all need help at times—and one of the missions of God’s angels is to help us in ways no one else can.

Even Jesus needed the help of an angel in the most difficult moment of His life. He was in the Garden of Gethsemane, praying to the Father about the path ahead of Him—a path leading to a cross on Calvary. And “an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.” So great was His anguish that He sweat drops of blood as He prayed (Luke 22:43-44). If Jesus needed strength and support in a trying moment of His life, how much more might we need the same?

Live a life of awareness of angels when you need help. Don’t project how they will help; just believe that they may be God’s way to meet your need.

Angels are the dispensers and administrators of the divine beneficence towards us. - John Calvin

Joel Osteen (September-18-2023) Today's Word: Ask for Help.

Today’s Scripture: Admit your faults to one another and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5:16, TLB

Today’s Word: It's easy to hide things in our lives and let people see only what we want them to see. All the heroes of faith in the Scripture had their weaknesses and failures. Everyone has issues. If you're still struggling in an area today, there is no shame in asking for help. Sometimes we think we're supposed to be perfect, so we can't let anybody know we have a bad habit, an addiction, or a struggle. We would be embarrassed if others knew. Today's Scripture tells you to not let shame keep you isolated. Real healing begins when we get honest. There are some things that you can't overcome on your own.

You need to find somebody to stand in faith with you, a person of integrity whom you can trust to walk with you through it. There's something about getting it out in the open. Don't let the fear of what other people think keep you from your miracle.

Prayer for Today: "Father, thank You that You didn't create me to hide my faults and weaknesses and be isolated. Help me to find someone whose integrity I trust to stand in faith and pray with me. I want the healing that comes with being honest and bringing my issues to the light. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Joyce Meyer (January-28-2023) Daily Devotion: Help Is Here.

Many people have received Jesus as Savior and Lord. They will go to heaven, but never draw on the full capacity of the Holy Spirit that is available to them or experience the true success God wants them to enjoy on Earth. Simply put, many will be on their way to heaven, but they won’t enjoy the trip.

We often look at those who have wealth, position, power and we consider them “successful.” But many people who are considered successful still lack peace, joy, contentment, and other true blessings. Such people have never learned to depend completely on the power of the Holy Spirit.

People who are self-sufficient often think depending on God is a sign of weakness. But the truth is that by drawing on the ability of the Holy Spirit, they can accomplish more in their lives than they ever could by working in their own strength.

God created us in such a way that although we do have strengths, we also have weaknesses and we need His help. We know He wants to help us because He sent a Divine Helper, the Holy Spirit, to live inside us.

We often struggle needlessly because we do not receive the help available to us. I encourage you to depend on Him, not on your own strength. Whatever you are facing, you don’t have to go through it alone.

Prayer Starter: Holy Spirit, I invite You into my day. Please strengthen me and help me to accomplish more than I ever could in my own strength. I can’t do it without You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
