Where Strength and Joy are Found - Joel Osteen Daily Devotion (July-16-2021)

Where Strength and Joy are Found - Joel Osteen Daily Devotion (July-16-2021).

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: Honor and majesty are [found] in His presence; strength and joy are [found] in His sanctuary.  1 Chronicles 16:27, AMPC

TODAY'S WORD: Do you need more strength and joy in your life? The Scripture tells us that in God’s presence there is fullness of joy, fullness of peace, fullness of victory—the most abundant and complete! That’s where you’re refreshed and restored. And when you have His joy, you have His supernatural strength. There’s nothing that can come against you when you are filled with the strength and joy of the Lord. Notice this verse says that strength and joy are found in His sanctuary. One translation says they are found “where He is.” And do you know “where He is?” His Spirit is alive in every believer, and in His Word, He promises that He inhabits, or manifests, in the praises of His people. That means when you begin to praise and worship God, either corporately in a church setting or privately in your personal time, God is there. You are in His sanctuary. Anytime you feel depleted or overwhelmed, just begin to sing a song of praise to Him. Declare His goodness and faithfulness. Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you. He’ll fill you with His joy and strength so that you can live as an overcomer all the days of your life!

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father, I bless You today. I thank You for Your goodness in my life. Thank You for filling me with Your strength and joy. I praise and worship You today in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Dear Joel, I have been watching your sermons online for many years now and always enjoyed your positive attitude. I have to admit that I find it difficult to stay positive many days. My son was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma of the pelvis when he was 13. Dealing with cancer has changed me. Watching my child endure chemo and radiation while I sit helplessly by has been no easy task. Unfortunately, unless you have had a sick child no one really knows what goes on in your mind, your heart or your life. We do try to laugh as much as possible but the fear always seems to creep in. I find myself having to push it out constantly and look at life in a completely different way. I used to be the happy positive person, however life has a way of pushing you back down. It has been 4 1/2 years now and I’m happy to say that my son is doing great. No sign of cancer recurrence which of course is all thanks to our almighty God. In my mind there is no other explanation for his recovery. Every 6 months we go for scans which kind of causes me to pause and hold my breath hoping and praying for the best. I find myself often feeling resentful of people whose children are healthy as the treatments have left my son with long term side effects. Doctors refer to the radiation as the gift that keeps giving when it comes to side effects. No one prepares you for the carnage that is left behind from the treatments. Thank you that your sermons bring encouragement into my life and God bless you and your family. Keep fighting the good fight Joel no matter what critics might say and so will we.

    Sincerely, Jeannie Bouwens
