1 Corinthians 11:25 - John Hagee Daily Devotional (May-26-2025)

Updated May 26 2025 In Daily Devotions by John Hagee

John Hagee (May-26-2025) Daily Devotional: 1 Corinthians 11:25 - In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My Blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

As we participate in Communion, Jesus reminds us to remember – to look back at the darkest night on which all of history hinges and to anticipate His promise that we will sit around a table again with Him one day.

Remembrance holds an important place in Jewish culture. The Israelites insisted on remembering God’s enduring compassion and undying faithfulness. They established memorials to remind themselves and their children. They sang songs, designed dances, and penned poetry. They assembled altars, designated days of celebration, wrote in their record books, and offered oblations to God.

For them and the following generations, those memorials pointed to how the Lord delivered them from enemies, brought them through deep waters, and provided for every need.

Remembrance is an act of righteousness. Remember Jesus’ desperate prayer in Gethsemane. Remember Judas’ act of betrayal. Remember the Roman whip that laid open His back. Remember the blood that poured out for the remission of our sins. Remember the final words that He uttered from the cross.

Remember the promises of God, because the provision of the Lord is found in them. In Communion, we remember our Savior, Healer, Provider, Defender, Hope, and Soon-coming King!

Blessing: May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Pause to remember His body broken for you, His blood spilled for you. Remember His promises made and kept. May your remembrance lead to your rejoicing in our worthy Savior!
