1 Samuel 17:26 - John Hagee Daily Devotional (July-30-2023)

John Hagee (July-30-2023) Daily Devotional: 1 Samuel 17:26 - Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”

David, the shepherd boy, stood on the hillside and listened to the arrogant dares of Goliath. The fighting men of Israel cowered in the shadow of the giant, but a fierce determination sprang up in David’s spirit.

He looked at the soldiers on either side of him and asked, “Is there not a cause?” David found cause to speak up and take action.

All around us are opportunities to step out and step up in faith. We step over our fear because we are captured by a cause that demands a response. We meet challenges “in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel” (I Samuel 17:45).

We focus on strong marriages that defy the odds. We determine to train up our children to love Jesus so that they will experience a lifelong relationship with a faithful Savior. We purpose to bring God’s light into our workplace, to speak up for those without a voice, to share the Good News in our communities.

Where is God asking you to step up? It could be as simple as putting down your phone to be more present with your family. It could be as difficult as foreign missions. Whatever He calls you to, do not delay. Is there not a cause?

Blessing:  May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May you step up where God is calling you. May you fulfill every accomplishment for which He has destined you. May you meet every challenge in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel!
