Isaiah 62:5b - John Hagee Daily Devotional (June-24-2025)

Updated June 23 2025 In Daily Devotions by John Hagee

John Hagee (June-24-2025) Daily Devotional: Isaiah 62:5b - And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.

Biblical marriage — one man and one woman before God for a lifetime – is a border that demands protection. Pledging our love to one another “until death do us part” is a commitment that requires serious consideration.

When the prophet, Nehemiah, learned that Jerusalem was demolished, he prayed and fasted to ask for God’s help. When King Artaxerxes offered his assistance, Nehemiah asked for a letter to rebuild Jerusalem. Before construction began, Nehemiah knew he needed to obtain the king’s permission.

Wisdom bids us to seek God’s permission before we begin to build a relationship. Is this the person whom God has chosen for me? Together, can we build a strong family? Our King of Kings, Who sees from the beginning to the end and Who has a plan for each one of us, desires to give us good gifts.

As we build our marriages, it is imperative to keep God at the center of the relationship. An attacker can overpower one person, but two can resist him; a threefold cord is not easily broken though (Ecclesiastes 4:12). When a couple abides in Christ, they find the strength and sufficiency to weather every storm.

When the Lord builds our home, our work will not be in vain. He blesses our partnerships and anoints them for His holy purpose. We find our “happily-ever-after” in Him.

Blessing:  Heavenly Father, I submit my relationship to You. Help me to honor my partner as Your child first. Help us to never stray from keeping You at the center of us. May Your plans be accomplished in us and through us. In the name of Jesus…amen.

    Dear Pastor John Hagge,
"Three fold cord cannot be broken" brings recall to me about a serious adventure I had on a cold winter day in Vermont years ago. A teacher friend of mine and I, both ladies decided during vacation we would take a hiking expedition day hike and had a good time, carrying a small back pack and me with a small rope. We rode in her jeep. Headed home getting near dusk, we both had this strange desire to check out a back mountain dirt road having seen some car tracks so, did not feel jeopardized. As we climbed higher I noticed only one set of tracks and slippery surfaces with ledges tight beside us, no way to turn around. She assured the road would climb higher than go down. We prayed and believed we had to climb higher and look for a level place to turn around for it was getting cold and we didn't want to suffer hyperthermia having sweat some in our hiking. We came upon a man wearing a short sleeve shirt, who had an artist easel set up, his trunk open, and acting frantic, steam from his mouth showing his blue lips from shivering. I asked him if he had a coat to put on. He didn't, we lent him one. He explained he wanted to make amends with his wife so came out to draw a picture, and got stuck, the bottom of the sedan was tight in snow, car slid sideways. THE MAN'S CELL PHONE WAS RUN OUT OF POWER AND SO, ALSO WAS HIS BATTERY REAL WEAK FROM LEAVING HIS DOORS OPEN. I asked him if he had gloves and could help shovel, for I had a folding shovel with me. He didn't. I told him it was getting dark quick and he could catch pneumonia and was not to be distressed. I prayed over him to be calm, but he was not able to even help, he was so scared and cold. I saw some cardboard in his trunk and a piece of rope, for mine was too weak to pull his car. Carol had a section of rope I grabbed and braided the three together to get strength, tied it to her hitch and around his bumper, then dug as fast as I could shoving cardboard tight under tires that were bald and kept yelling at him to back up slowly as we pulled, then stop for me to readjust . He was real shook, so, I had to steer part of the car so, he would not end up over the steep mountain bank. I prayed a lot. We got the car turned around, he said he could then drive down and get back home.. We exhausted ladies were so glad we unselfishly took time out in the dark to carefully, though slippery partially skidded back down the dangerous steep narrow snowy road, more flakes falling in front of the headlamps and finally hit pavement on our way home laughing about our risky adventure shivering in her unheated jeep. GOD WAS GRACIOUS TO US ALL, AND WE WERE MIGHTY THANKFUL, SEEING A ROAD SIGN CLOSED, DO NOT USE IN WINTER ON OUR WAY OUT. WE NEVER AGAIN RETURNED; FOR THE ROAD WAS DANGEROUS IN SUMMERTIME, ALSO BEHIND THE FAMOUS WALLINGFORD WHITE ROCKS BACK WAY; FIREROAD WHERE GOD CALLED US.
