Updated October 01 2025 In John Hagee

John Hagee - Watch Sermon: The Power of Your Potential. What is the power of your potential? Jesus had the power to raise the dead. He had to call the dead by name or every dead person would have risen from their grave. He walked on water and shouted into the storm, “Peace be still!” God will use the thing that you feel is going to destroy you to bless you beyond belief!

The Power of Your Potential

The question is: What is the power of your potential?

Potential power is exciting. The ministry of Jesus Christ was power on parade. When Jesus Christ came to Earth, the masses followed Him to see the demonstration of supernatural power the world had never seen before.

Jesus stopped a funeral procession and raised the widow's son back to life. That's power. He raised Lazarus from the dead after he had been dead for three days with three words: “Lazarus, come forth!” Why did He call the name Lazarus? Because had He not addressed Lazarus specifically, every dead person in the earth would have come out of their grave. Because He is the resurrection and the life.

Paul writes: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)

What is your potential? There is enough atomic energy in a glass of water to drive a battleship around the earth four times. The question is: How do you release the potential?

Knowledge and the Word of God

According to UCLA's Brain Institute, the human brain has the potential to create, to store, and to learn virtually without limit. Their research concludes: “We could without any difficulty whatsoever learn 40 languages, memorize a set of encyclopedias from A to Z.”

That’s your mental potential.

Adam had that kind of potential when God made him the general manager of the universe. But when the curse came, his intellect was reduced to what we recognize now, so that it would not happen again.

Paul said: “Study to show yourself approved, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

David said: “Thy word have I hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” (Psalm 119:11)

The Word of God must be memorized. When you are in a spiritual crisis and need an answer immediately, you don’t have time to go search your bookshelf. You need the Word of God right then, and that Word will bring you the victory.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

This Book has the answer to every crisis you are facing or ever will face.

America in Crisis

The Bible says: “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34)

Right now, America is stumbling in darkness. Boys are becoming girls, and girls are becoming boys. This is witchcraft, and it needs to stop.

Thirteen-year-old girls are having babies. Fifteen-year-old boys are killing each other and shooting policemen. Seventeen-year-olds are dying by the thousands from fentanyl drugs. Eighteen-year-olds are graduating high school unable to read at a third-grade level.

The answer is righteousness. When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked rule, the people mourn.

Five Rules for a Great Life

  1. Make peace with your past so it will not destroy your future.
    • Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.
  2. The only person in charge of your happiness is you.
    • “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24)
  3. What other people think of you is none of your business.
    • Jesus said: “Beware when all men speak well of you.” (Luke 6:26)
  4. Don’t compare your life with others.
    • “Those who compare themselves among themselves are not wise.” (2 Corinthians 10:12)
  5. Embrace joy.
    • “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

Quit worrying. God loves you just as you are. Smile and embrace joy!

Potential and Faith

Your potential is not what you have done—that’s history. Your potential is what you can do but have not yet done. Don’t live in the glow of past accomplishments.

Every seed has a forest within it. Every bird has a flock inside. Every person carries nations within. The fact that you were born is proof that God knew you had potential to accomplish a divine assignment.

“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Your potential is activated by faith. Genesis 1:26 says: “Let us make man in our likeness.” The Hebrew word likeness means “to operate like.” God operates by faith—and so must you.

“Without faith it is impossible to please God.” (Hebrews 11:6)
“The just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)
“Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.” (1 John 5:4)

Faith is not emotion—it is substance. Faith does not demand miracles, it creates miracles.

Jesus said: “Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:13-14)

There is no reason you cannot have peace now, joy now, and victory now.

Prayer for Potential

How many of you say: “Pastor, I have a great living but I’m not happy. I don’t have peace. My marriage is in trouble. My children have gone astray. I am allowing the accomplishments of the past to destroy the potential of the present.”

Pray this prayer with me:

Heavenly Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, in faith I come to the throne of God. I ask You, Father, to help me accomplish my divine potential. You have me on this earth for a reason. Show me that mission. Give me the wisdom, the grace, and the strength to accomplish that destiny. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Give the Lord a shout of praise in the house of God!
