Jentezen Franklin (March 28, 2024) Daily Devotional: Fill Up Heaven With Your Prayers.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9

The most powerful people on the face of this earth are people who learn how to pray—not people who just know about prayer but people who take the time to pray every day. The heroes of the Bible who were “more than conquerors” were men and women of prayer. They learned to prevail in prayer.

Prevailing prayer is not crisis prayer. It is not only praying when there is an emergency but also consistent and continual daily prayer. You bombard heaven, and it becomes a part of who you are. Everything God wants to do in your life is linked to your prayers. Often, the very first thing we do when we get sick is say, “I need to get a doctor’s appointment.” But the first thing we ought to do is pray. When we are going through a crisis the first thing we should do is pray over the situation.

A picture of prevailing prayer is mighty angels ascending and descending on Jacob’s ladder. Jacob saw, in a dream, the activity of Heaven. He observed the ceaseless motion of angels going up with the prayers of people on earth and descending back down with answers from God. If nothing goes up, nothing comes down. A random prayer every now and then is not a prevailing prayer. Continually fill the arms of angels until your prayers stack up in Heaven. Your prayers will keep building up until they eventually become a memorial in Heaven.

Abraham also prayed prevailing prayers, and in Genesis 18, he stood before God and said, “Will you destroy the righteous with the wicked? Surely not.” Abraham had a nephew who lived in Sodom and Gomorrah with his family. Abraham bombarded God with prayers in order to spare his family when God was going to destroy the wicked city. The only reason Lot was spared was because God remembered Abraham’s prayers. Don’t neglect to pray for your family and those in your world. Your prayers matter more than you realize.

Daily Devotional (March 27, 2024) WHY YOU SHOULD PRAY IN TONGUES - Part 3.

Scripture Reference: 1 Corinthians 2:11 - For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Let's see Romans 8:26. It says, "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."

The word intercession in the text transliterates to mean huperentugchano, and to intercede is to step in and help. It is to intervene. From Romans 8:26, the apparent dilemma is that we do not know what to pray for as we ought. Prayer is a means of fellowship between God and His children, but it is also how we ask. James 4:3 helps us understand that it is possible to ask amiss, meaning, we sometimes ask the wrong things in prayer, and this is because of the limitations of the mind (this is why we are asked to continually renew our minds). Now, when we pray with our understanding, we cannot go past how we think. We cannot pray better or higher than our minds can fathom.

Scripture tells us that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. We cannot do or say better than the way we think, and this is why you should pray in tongues.

The limitation of the mind is why we do not know what to pray as we ought. There is how we ought to pray, and there is what we should pray, but the mind falls short of capturing that. There is what God wants you to ask for (which is His Will for you), and the way to decipher that is to pray in the language of the Spirit. When you pray in tongues, you bypass the limitations of your mind, and you pray to know what to pray. You pray in tongues to get what God will have you pray. So, the Holy Ghost does not pray for us, He helps us pray the right thing. He searches the deep things of God to reveal to us. If you already had a preconceived notion prior to prayer, say, you had your plans and motives before talking to God, praying in your understanding simply helps you voice out what you already wanted which might not be God's will for you, but when you pray in the Holy Ghost, you pray bypassing the impulses of the mind and discerning the will of God instead of yours (See Romans 8:27).

Praying in tongues places in your heart what you ought to pray for as you ought, including thanksgiving. When you cannot find the words, pray in other tongues, and even when you think you have the words, praying in other tongues helps you say the exact and precise words. Romans 8:26 says the Holy Ghost helps our weaknesses, and it is because of these weaknesses that we do not know what to pray as we ought; weaknesses such as selfishness or genuine cluelessness.

Sometimes, we genuinely do not know what to pray because we run out of ideas and 'prayer points. Praying in tongues is a prayer point in itself. It is praying to know what to pray as you ought. When you pray in other tongues, you are giving room to know the will of the Father concerning whatever, even when the answer is "no". Pray to discern God's will today. Pray in other tongues!

DECLARE THIS: As I pray in tongues today, I pray to know God's will. I pray to bring the answers in my spirit to the consciousness of my mind. I pray to know what to pray. I pray to bypass my will! Glory!

Daily Devotional (March-27-2024) Pray According To His Will.

Scripture Reference: I John 5: 14-15 (ESV) - “And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will he hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him.”

John shares a very significant secret about praying. If we want to see answers to prayer, then we need to pray according to God’s will. It sounds like circular logic, but is it? Think about it. Jesus came to do what? The will of His Father. He said, “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.” Why should we be any different? But, you say, “I’m not Jesus.” How true, but again, what did Jesus say? He said, ‘“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. – He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.” But this is different than our normal way of praying. We need to learn to pray according to His will. It is like watching a sports game for the first time. You don’t understand anything. But what happens after you start to play? You start to understand what is going on and you get better and better at it. Likewise, God invites us to JOIN Him in His work in this world. Let’s get to know Him. Let’s spend time with Him. Instead of just praying, let’s ask God, “Father, how do You want me to pray? What is Your will in this matter? How can I join You in this?” As we seek His will and learn to wait on Him, we will grow in confidence and He will give us the direction we need. He will answer our prayers.

Prayer: Dear Father, teach me to pray. More than that, teach me what to pray. I want to do Your will. I want to join You in Your work. As I seek Your will, show me what to pray. I want to ask according to Your will. In Jesus’ name. AMEN

Baltimore Key bridge collapses after ship collision - more than 20 people are missing.

Urgent Prayer Request: The Christian world must not forget its vocation. There was a disaster in Baltimore. Destroyed the Main Bridge. Maybe there are people in the water. Let us pray for their salvation. We cannot ignore this tragedy, as we are already doing it with Ukraine and Israel. Our prayer should be heard now!

News: A freighter crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. As a result, the bridge collapsed.

It turned out that the ship that led to the incident was sailing under the flag of Singapore. The container ship was moving in the direction of Sri Lanka. CNN writes about it.

Video of the collision shows the tall boat heading straight for one of the bridge's support columns before colliding with it. As a result, a huge part of the bridge fell into the water in a matter of seconds. The impact immediately caused the collapse of nearby parts of the bridge.

The 1.6-mile-long, 4-lane bridge spans the Patapsco River and serves as the extreme crossing of Baltimore Harbor and an important link on the Interstate Baltimore Ring Road. It is believed that Francis Scott Key was sitting near the bridge construction site in 1814 and witnessed the bombardment of Fort McHenry. According to legend, it inspired him to write the lyrics to the US national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Jentezen Franklin (March 26, 2024) Daily Devotional: Circle It In Prayer.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

Joshua 6 shares the miraculous story of Jericho. This massive city was the first place that the Israelites encountered on their way to the Promised Land. At this point in their journey, many of these Israelites had never even seen a city before since they had wandered in the desert for so long. They were used to living in tents. The walls of Jericho were 60 feet high and up to 40 feet wide. In verse 3, God instructs them to march around the city and tells them that the walls of the city will fall down flat. It was a strange commandment, but God was having them make prayer circles. It didn’t matter how big the walls were; God wanted them to see He was Lord over everything.

You may face some resistance today, but God wants you to pray boldly. God likes it when you ask for seas to part and ax heads to float. Joshua prayed for the sun to stand still, and God stopped the whole universe because someone had prayed a bold prayer of faith that was connected to God’s purpose and plan.

It’s okay to recognize that you are in a hardship but make sure you are praying prophesy over your future. “God, I know I’m sick, but you are the great Healer, and you will heal me.” “God, I know my child is rebelling against your plan for his life, but you will draw him back to you with your great love.” “God, I am persuaded that you are able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that I could ask or think no matter how terrible the situation looks.” Pray your faith, not your fears.

Any engineer would say that it would have taken huge battering rams to knock those walls down but God said (paraphrased), “No need for that. I have a supernatural plan, and if you will circle the situation in prayer, I myself will cause the walls to fall down.” After the seventh time of making a circle around Jericho, the walls fell flat. Your destiny may be waiting on the other side of a wall. Begin to circle your dreams in prayer today

Daily Devotional (March 25, 2024) WHY YOU SHOULD PRAY IN TONGUES.

Scripture Reference: 1 Corinthians 12:1-4 - Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit

The gift of speaking in other tongues as we see from the progression of Luke 25:49 and Acts 1:4 is complementary to receiving the Holy Ghost. The believer's 'Day of Pentecost' is the day he/she received Christ. That being said, it is important to know that like all the other gifts of the Spirit, speaking in tongues is not learnt. It is the only language that we are not taught to speak, because it is sponsored by the Spirit within. There are no special qualifications required to pray in tongues, and it is not reserved for a specific few. It is for all who have received the Holy Ghost. If you have the Holy Ghost, you can and should pray in tongues. You are already filled with the Spirit, so just speak. Don't rationalize it.

Why should we pray in other tongues? Let's see 1 Corinthians 14:2-4. It says, "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church."

To edify is to oikodomeo. It is to build up or to literally construct brick upon brick. So, praying in tongues is how we build ourselves up; how we construct and how we layer strength upon strength. What do we build when we pray in other tongues? We build inner strength. Jesus said in Luke 18:1, "men ought always to pray, and not to faint". In other words, we are designed to live by prayer. People think that they cannot pray because they are tired, when in fact it is because they are not praying that they are tired. If you're fainting, it is because you're not praying. The best way to build mental fortitude and willpower is to spend quality time praying in tongues. Feed your heart with the strength of the Spirit, and not just motivation. Pray in tongues.

What do we build in prayer? We build stamina and resistance to adversity. Scripture says in Proverbs 24:10, "If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small'. Adversity is guaranteed to come, but it must meet us a hundred steps ahead. How to be unshakable by downtimes is to create a cushion effect that will prevent you from being hit hard or feeling the impact of such downtimes. The way to do that is to build resistance by praying in other tongues.

Proactive prayers will do us a lot of good. Preparing for downtimes when they come is unprofitable. We pray in tongues so that we are not lightweight and easily siftable by adversity (Luke 22:31). We pray to build standing and stamina in advance. The tool to build is provided already! Don't wait for others to edify you, practice self-edification right now. Pray in other tongues! Praying in tongues is edifying yourself.

DECLARE THIS: As I pray in tongues today, am edified! I build strength and stamina. I gain standing! I am not lightweight and I build resistance and resilience by the Spirit!
