Roundtable Discussion on the Quality of Education in the U.S. 5 Feb. 2018 - Keith Butler, David Barton, Michele Bachmann, George Pearson. In this Faith for Our Nation video, four Christian leaders have a frank discussion about the quality of education in the U.S. The leaders agree that the current environment faced by students and teachers in public schools undermines the quality of education in the U.S. Bishop Keith Butler, Senior Pastor of Word of Faith International Christian Center in Southfield, Michigan, opens the discussion by talking about the choices black parents in the U.S. must make to ensure their children receive a quality education. They can either choose to educate their children at home or send them to Christian suburban schools. Both come with their own challenges.
David Barton, Founder of Wallbuilders, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of America’s heroes, history and religious foundation, discusses the challenges public school teachers face because they are unable to answer questions pertaining to morality. Michele Bachmann, former member of the U.S. House of Representatives, acknowledges the struggle public schools face. She talks about a law suit brought against the school district that she attended in high school by the U.S. Department of Education. The lawsuit dealt with the same issue of schools holding a position of advocacy, not neutrality, when dealing with students on issues of morality and sexuality.
