Charles Stanley (January-15-2024) Daily Devotional: Learning Spiritual Discernment.

Spiritual discernment develops over time as we study the Word and put into practice what we learn.

Hebrews 5:11-14 - Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.

Yesterday we learned spiritual discernment develops progressively over time. The Lord doesn’t simply pour knowledge into our head after we’re saved. It’s important to regularly seek His will and study the Word in order to know Him better. We should also ask the Holy Spirit to help us understand Scripture and obey what it says.

The church is another avenue of instruction. As the Bible is taught and explained, we gain a foundation of truth on which to build our life. But let’s not be satisfied with simply knowing the basics of the faith. By digging deeply into the Word and wrestling with more weighty issues, we’ll gain a vaster understanding of what the Lord desires and expects.

But no matter how much information we accumulate, discernment is produced only by putting into practice what we’ve learned. It does no good to sit in church week after week without ever applying the scriptural principles taught there.

Spiritual maturity is measured not by what we know but by how faithful we are to apply what we know. It’s through our obedience that God trains us to discern good and evil—then we can live wisely and righteously.

David Jeremiah (December-26-2023) Daily Devotional: Spiritual Drought - Turning Point.

Walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. - Colossians 1:10

9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Severe drought in many parts of the U.S. is directly impacting crop production. A recent survey by the American Farm Bureau Federation found that 37 percent of American farmers have killed existing crops because they won’t become mature due to dry conditions, while other farmers have chosen not to plant as many crops.[1] The lack of rain has led to a decrease in our land’s fruitfulness.

Our spiritual life can become plagued by drought as well. When our time in God’s Word and in prayer diminishes, our life produces less fruit. But we don’t need to wait for it to rain before we see an increase in fruit. When our life seems spiritually dry, we should return to the basics. Douse our mind in God’s Word. Refresh our soul with time in prayerful solitude. Water our heart through fellowship with other believers. As we do this, we will once again bear spiritual fruit. Our words, actions, and character will reflect Christ and point others to Him. Walk worthy of the Lord, bearing spiritual fruit for Him.

Joel Osteen (September-01-2023) Daily Devotion: Your Spiritual DNA.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. Romans 8:14, NIV

TODAY'S WORD: Have you ever really considered your spiritual DNA? When God created you in His image, He put a part of Himself in you. You could say that you have the DNA of Almighty God. You are destined to do great things, destined to leave your mark on this generation. Now here’s the key: He is not just the Creator of the universe, the all-powerful God. He is your heavenly Father. You have His DNA. Imagine what you can do!

When you realize who you are, you won’t go around intimidated and insecure, thinking, “I’m lacking. I’m not that talented. I come from the wrong family.” No, you come from the right family. Your Father created it all. When you know who you are, it changes your thinking from, “I’m unlucky. I never get any good breaks” to “I have the favor of God. Blessings are chasing me down.” When you know who you are, you’ll start thinking like a winner, talking like a winner, carrying yourself like a winner, and soon, you’ll start living like a winner, too! Remember, you have the DNA of God, and that’s enough to overcome every obstacle in Jesus’ name!

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father, thank You for Your love for me. Thank You for adopting me into Your family and transforming my spiritual makeup. I know that I am empowered in You and through You and give You all the glory in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Daily Devotional (January-24-2023) Spiritual Dominion (part 1).

2 Corinthians 10:2-6 - "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: [4] (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds ;) ”

The first and second books of Corinthians in the Bible are books that were actually written by the great apostle Paul to the Corinthians. In writing, Paul addressed a lot of doctrines during his time, which we still face now in our churches as Christians. In this particular capture of second Corinthians, Paul addressed the issue of what I call SPIRITUAL DOMINION and FLESHLY DOMINION.

Paul said, for though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. He continued by saying, for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of STRONGHOLDS. When you read something like this, three things comes to your mind, WAR, WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE AND STRONGHOLDS. The questions now are, what kind of war was Paul talking about? What are the weapons? And what is a STRONGHOLD?
A strong hold according to my understanding, is something that appears to one very difficult to attack and very difficult to defend, Something You cannot defend yourself against its threats and you cannot attack it because you think it will overcome you. A STRONGHOLD is a force that is serving as a wall around you, preventing you from moving to places of your choice. A STRONGHOLD is likened unto a person in prison. All privileges and rights are taken away from you except the right to life.

And what kind of a WAR was Paul talking about? The Bible actually teaches about two types of WAR which I know but they may be others. The first type of war is what I call the SPIRITUAL WAR and the second, I call it the EMOTIONAL WAR. And there is something about these two types of war. They both comes with different weapons in our warfare. The Bible says, these weapons are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. In order words, these weapons are SPIRITUALLY EFFECTIVE through God to the pulling down of strongholds. Glory be to God in that He has made all things easy for us, Praise God.

Make time with me tomorrow as we continue to rightly divide and understand the message of Truth on the topic, “SPIRITUAL DOMINION “as we talk on the first type of war call SPIRITUAL WAR and its weapons.
