Christian Daily Devotional (February-06-2024) Worship Him.

Scripture Reference: “Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.” - Psalms 29:2 (NLT)

We were made to worship God. I have not met many people who had a hard time grasping that we, as humans, are finite. There are hundreds of reminders every day that let us know that we have not arrived at perfection. Yet in all our finiteness there is something in us that yearns to connect to the divine. There is a part of us that wants to know that there is more than this life of human frailty and a fatalistic outlook.

We desire to know that there is a plan and a master creator behind the plan. David knew this and invites us to participate in the secret to life. David bids us to come and worship God in the splendor of His Holiness. What is so ironic is that God’s Holiness, in its purest form, is unknowable by human understanding.

God’s Holiness is the attribute that makes Him transcendent and separate from all else. His wisdom, knowledge, power, love and purity are far above our comprehension.

That is why it must be understood in worship. And so we worship; that is we come to God with a reverent honor and adoring reverence and know with our spirit what we cannot always know with our mind. God, in His love, allows us to love and adore Him, and when we do, we see that worshipping Him in His Holiness is indeed splendor. Come today and tell God how much you love Him. Let yourself adore  and honor Him.

Prayer: My Lord and my God. How majestic You are. How I honor You. How I adore You. How far above my ways are Your ways. Though I cannot begin to understand the depths of who You are, I worship You today in the splendor of Your Holiness. In Jesus’ name I come and worship You, almighty God. AMEN

Joseph Prince (February-05-2024) Daily Devotion: WORSHIP GOD AS YOU ARE.

Ephesians 5:27 - that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Have you been to a worship service where you stood with your hands raised, ready to worship God, only to hear the worship leader say, “Before we worship God, let’s all search our hearts”? Then, as you search your heart, before long, you dig up something that you don’t like. The next thing you know, your hands are no longer raised and soon, you find yourself sitting down—you don’t feel good worshiping God any more.

My friend, I have good news for you. Come and worship Him as you are. Come into God’s presence Jesus-conscious, forgiveness-conscious and grace-conscious! Come into God’s presence bringing only Jesus the spotless Lamb of God as your offering.

Your worshiping God is like the times God’s people in the Old Testament brought their offerings to the priest. The priest examined the animal sacrifice to ensure that it was without blemish. The priest did not examine the sinner. If the animal was without blemish, God accepted the animal sacrifice as well as the offerer who brought the animal.

So when you come into God’s presence, don’t do any self-examination and be discouraged when you find faults in your life. God does not examine you. He sees you through the full value, and all the loveliness and acceptance of His Son (see Ephesians 1:6). He sees you holy and without blemish!

Remember the woman who was referred to as a sinner, possibly a prostitute? She went to the house of the Pharisee who was hosting Jesus and wiped Jesus’ feet with her hair (see Luke 7:36–50). That was her act of worship.

She came to Him as she was. Yes, she knew that she had sinned, but she worshiped Jesus first because of who He is. She was Jesus-conscious. Then, she heard Jesus say, “Your sins are forgiven” (Luke 7:48). She received the forgiveness she needed from Him.

Whatever you need from the Savior, come to Him as you are. Worship Him for who He is and then you will hear Him say, “Go your way. Your restoration has come. Your provision is here. You are healed. You have been made whole!”

Charles Stanley (January-29-2024) Daily Devotional: Feasting As Worship.

Gathering to celebrate God’s goodness honors Him and blesses us.

Leviticus 23:4-8 - `These are the appointed times of the LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at the times appointed for them. `In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight is the LORD'S Passover. `Then on the fifteenth day of the same month there is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the LORD; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. `On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work. `But for seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD. On the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work.'"

When the Israelites entered the Promised Land after years of wandering in the desert, God issued a strange command: Feast.

Feasting and enjoying the bounty of the land were meant to tie the Israelites to different rhythms throughout the year—such as harvesting the first and last of the year’s crops. Festivals were also a way of commemorating the mighty acts of God on the people’s behalf, like the night of the Passover when God spared all who’d painted their doors with the blood of a lamb. Ultimately, these celebrations were an act of worship that reoriented God’s people to right relationship with Him. God was their provider and sustainer, so they feasted with gratitude. He was their rescuer and redeemer, so they feasted in holy remembrance.

Today we can learn healthy spiritual habits from these observances prescribed by God for the ancient Israelites. When we pause to give thanks for our blessings, we worship God with our time and attention. When we gather to simply enjoy His good gifts, we remember that “every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17 - Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow)—not from our own striving.

When was the last time you paused to savor God’s goodness, remember His faithfulness, and worship Him? Consider taking time to taste and see the goodness of God today.
