10 Interesting (and Sometimes Shocking) Facts About U.S. President Donald Trump

Updated February 01 2025 In Opinions

Of course, Donald Trump is a fascinating figure. People have strong opinions about him—some fiercely criticize or even hate him, viewing him as an adversary, while others admire him, believing he’s the one who can restore order in America and beyond.

Today, I’d like to share some facts regardless of your personal opinion—this isn’t an endorsement or criticism, just 10 intriguing facts about Trump that many people may have never heard before.

Fact #1: Trump’s Early Life

Donald Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in New York. He’s one of five children of Fred Trump, a successful businessman who owned a large real estate company—which he later passed down to Donald.

As a child, Trump was known for his troublesome behavior, which led his father to send him to a military academy at the age of 13 to teach him discipline.

Trump has been married three times and has five children. Interestingly, two of his wives—his first and his current wife, Melania—are of Slavic descent, showing his apparent fondness for Slavic culture.

Fact #2: Trump & Alcohol

Here’s an interesting one—Trump doesn’t drink alcohol at all.

In his youth, he enjoyed drinking, but his older brother, Fred Jr., who was also a businessman, struggled with alcohol addiction and sadly passed away at 43 due to related complications.

This tragedy had a profound effect on Trump, leading him to completely abstain from alcohol ever since. He considers alcohol to be a great evil.

Interestingly, many churches today don’t view moderate drinking (like wine or beer) as a major issue. However, Trump’s stance aligns with those who believe that alcohol has never brought anything good—and in this regard, many would agree with him.

Fact #3: A Multi-Billion-Dollar Business Empire

Trump is an incredibly successful businessman.

He owns dozens of skyscrapers, including:

  • The iconic Trump Tower in Manhattan, a 58-story building.
  • The Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago, with 98 floors—one of the tallest skyscrapers in the U.S.
  • A 98-story skyscraper in Manila, Philippines.
  • The tallest building in the Philippines, standing at 56 floors.
  • Another massive skyscraper in Panama City, as well as luxury properties in Miami.

One of Trump’s notable business ventures was owning the Miss Universe franchise, which he led from 1996 to 2015—until he likely sold it that year.

Fact #4: One of America’s Wealthiest Presidents

Trump is a billionaire and ranks among the richest U.S. presidents in history.

His exact net worth is debated, with Forbes estimating it between $7 to $9 billion over the years.

Considering the value of all his properties—including his famous gold-colored tower in Las Vegas—it’s clear that Trump’s fortune is massive.

Fact #5: Trump the Actor

Now, here’s a surprising one: Donald Trump has an acting career!

He’s appeared in numerous films and TV shows.

Guess how many?
You probably won’t believe it…
Trump has made appearances in 68 films and TV shows!

Most of his roles were cameos, but they’ve contributed to his status as a pop culture icon.

Imagine this—68 films, including various projects. For example, there’s “The Simpsons” and “Home Alone,” where he had a small cameo. However, his most famous appearance is in his TV show “The Apprentice,” where he frequently shouted:
“You’re fired!”
This was an incredibly popular show long before he became president.

Few people know that his name is also on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. The stars on the sidewalk honor the most famous actors, and only two U.S. presidents have their own star—Ronald Reagan (since he was a well-known actor before his presidency) and Donald Trump. It’s said that Trump received his star for his years of work on “The Apprentice.”

Number Six

An interesting fact: Donald Trump is an evangelical Christian, meaning he’s a Protestant (not Orthodox, not Catholic, and not an atheist). He is officially affiliated with the Presbyterian Church but has very close ties with Pentecostals and Charismatics.

Number Seven

Donald Trump openly declares his pro-Israel stance—he doesn’t hide it. Many of you already know this. For example, in December 2017, during his first term, President Trump recognized Jerusalem as the indivisible capital of Israel and moved the U.S. Embassy there.

Few people realize that the U.S. Embassy is now located in Jerusalem, not Tel Aviv. Following his decision, many other countries also relocated their embassies.

Just a few days ago, he announced that he would deport all Palestinians who had protested or supported Hamas and demonstrated against Israel (for example, near college campuses). He stated that their visas would be revoked, and they would be deported.

By the way, he had already made this promise during his election campaign, stating that this would happen when he became president, and now he has repeated it:

"Everyone who was against Israel will be deported."

Number Eight

Donald Trump is very conservative and upholds traditional values.

  • Gender Policy:
One of his first executive orders established that the U.S. would recognize only two genders—male and female.
Previously, there had been discussions about recognizing additional gender identities—some claimed there were 17, others said up to 90, and eventually, people even mentioned the possibility of 1,000 genders.
  • Trump banned this and ordered that only male or female could be indicated on passports.
I’ve heard that some states had even prepared passports with a “third gender” option, but these printed passports had to be discarded.
  • Transgender Policies:
Trump banned gender reassignment surgeries for minors, including procedures like organ removal, which had been previously allowed.
He also prohibited transgender individuals from serving in the military or holding high-ranking government positions.
  • Merit-Based Hiring:
In the past, U.S. government agencies had diversity quotas, ensuring a certain percentage of jobs were filled by minorities, such as people with disabilities, Black individuals, women, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
It seemed that the main goal was to reduce the number of white men in certain roles.Imagine hiring pilots, doctors, or other professionals based strictly on their competence, rather than meeting diversity quotas.
He thus eliminated what he called "nonsense."
  • Trump announced that from now on, hiring for government positions would be based solely on professional skills, not race or gender.
  • Abortion Stance:
Trump has been very vocal against abortion.
He repealed a law that required the federal government to fund abortions with taxpayer money.

Number Nine

An interesting fact that few people know: there are speculations that Donald Trump may speak other languages and could even be a secret Pentecostal.

Some pastors claim that his spiritual advisor is Pastor Paula White, known for her charismatic style and ability to speak in tongues. She regularly advises Trump on spiritual matters, and he considers her his mentor.

Considering that many people in his inner circle are charismatic Pentecostals—pastors who pray during services and actively support him—these rumors might have some truth to them.

It’s said that these individuals introduced Trump to the concept of baptism in the Holy Spirit and the gift of speaking in tongues, and they may have even prayed for him with this purpose in mind.

However, it’s important to note that there is no official confirmation—this remains pure speculation.

Number Ten

Donald Trump comes from a family that can be described as part of the revivalist movement.

To explain this, let’s recall that in 1949, a major religious revival took place on the Hebrides Islands (part of the UK)—one of the most significant in British history.

People felt such deep conviction for their sins that they would repent at home, even before reaching the church. Overwhelmed with guilt, they’d run to church, often falling to their knees along the way, crying out:

“God, forgive my sins.”

This was a genuine, mass movement of repentance.

There are many examples from this revival. For instance, during a dance party with over 100 people, the sudden cutting of the music led everyone to break down in tears, rushing to church to ask for God’s forgiveness.
Such events became symbolic of that era.

The revival was led by two sistersMary and Christine Smith—who prophesied and foresaw the start of this spiritual movement.

During this period, a preacher arrived, and the revival grew even stronger.
These sisters had a niece named Mary Anne MacLeod, who had moved to America a few years prior.

Upon hearing about the revival, she began praying fervently, and the Smith sisters even sent her the Bible that had been used during the events on the Hebrides Islands.

In 1946, Mary Anne gave birth to a son, whom she named Donald, after one of the preachers from the Hebrides revival.

Interestingly, in 2016 and again in 2024, Donald Trump became the 45th and 47th President of the United States.

This means that his mother was the niece of the Smith sisters, who had led the Hebrides Revival.

By the way, Donald Trump always carries this Bible with him.
During his first term, when he took the presidential oath, he placed his hand on this Hebrides Bible.
And during his second inauguration, we see Melania holding the same Bible, which Trump once again used while taking the oath.
