1. We are still alive, and it is the result of God's help and the support of other democratic countries. Thank you for your support and prayers for Ukraine. Unfortunately, the Russian army fires at our cities every day, and someone dies. I hate waking my kids up at night to immediately go down to the basement when there are Russian missile launches. When I wake up my kids at night, I hear other parents do the same and little kids start crying. My neighbors go down to the basement with their children and pets. Children complain and cry, animals whine, adults nervously check messages from the Air Force of Ukraine. Ordinary blocks of flats are also targets, even if it is pointless. Russian propaganda will call hitting blocks of flats a victory over the American or NATO military. After a night of shelling, children go to school in the morning( regardless of how many hours they sat in the basement at night). But during the lessons there will be an air alarm again, it happens almost every day. So the children will go to the basement of the school again and will sit there until the end of the air alert. Unfortunately, hundreds of thousands of children have already been orphaned, and their fathers and mothers died defending Ukraine. I think every day, what a wonderful life we had until Russian troops invaded Ukraine.
2. So I was surprised to hear that the famous American influencer Tucker Carlson decided to interview Putin. Tucker Carlson said that it would be fair to ask Putin's opinion about the war, so I think it would be fair if I, as a Ukrainian, write why American Christians should not trust Putin's words.
Firstly, Putin deliberately distorts historical facts to justify the invasion of Ukraine.
- I counted at least 3 versions of "who created Ukraine". Ukraine existed before the founding of Moscow and Russia. Ukraine was called Kyivan Rus with Kyiv as its capital.
- Ukraine was not a part of Russia, Ukraine was under Russian occupation for more than three hundred years.
- About Poland. There are enough museums in Poland that keep evidence of how Hitler and Stalin started the Second World War together. They were allies and planned to divide Europe, and they started with the fact that Russian and German troops simultaneously invaded Poland from different sides. Secondly, Putin promised many times not to attack Ukraine until 2014, and then Russian troops invaded Crimea and 2 Ukrainian regions in the east. And in the same way, Putin promised not to invade Ukraine in 2022, he called such chatter American propaganda. Ukraine could not attack Russia in any way, because Ukraine did not have a normal army until the middle of 2014, and still does not have enough weapons and military equipment. The first invasion of the Russian army in 2014 was stopped not by the army but by volunteers, who often had no weapons and military uniforms. They received weapons when they defeated the Russian military.
Thirdly, Tucker Carlson's Putin Interview is dangerous not only because of lies and misinformation, but because Tucker Carlson never lived in Russia. He does not know how Russians really live. Many Russians live in terrible conditions without electricity, heating, water supply, roads and affordable medicine. Instead, almost the entire economy works to produce weapons. The acquittal rate drops to 0.34 percent in 2020, now as I read it is about 0.15. There are thousands of convicted people simply for posts on Facebook, for videos complaining about injustice. And I am sure that Tucker Carlson does not know that the most popular propagandist Solovyov (Russian propagandist) argued that Russia should support all proxies who kill American soldiers. Every day, the Russian media talk about the necessity of Russia's attack on European states, on Kazakhstan, on Georgia and other neighboring countries "to protect Russian-speaking people." Do you think Putin will stop if he gets Ukraine? I think he will not stop, otherwise the propaganda would not work every day justifying the necessity of war. So the propaganda works, and while the civilians of democratic countries think that there is a simple solution to achieving peace, the Russian authoritarian regime is preparing for the third World War.
3. Finally, I want to say to all Christians that the war will not end if Ukraine remains without support. It means that the number of victims will grow exponentially. And if Ukraine loses, there will be a new famine, new concentration camps for millions of Ukrainians and repression, everything that happened during the occupation by the Soviet Union a hundred years ago.
