TD Jakes Daily Devotional - June 10, 2025 - Unexpected Blessings.
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." – Matthew 25:35
Brothers and sisters, do you hear me today? In the midst of life's storms, when we find ourselves broken and battered, it doesn't matter where the help comes from. When you're hurting, you don't care about the color of the paramedic's skin, their nationality, or even their gender. All that matters is that someone is there to help, to save you, to breathe life back into you. You are just grateful for the rescue.
Don't rush to judge people. Don't judge them based on their appearance or background. God might send you help from the most unexpected places. Think about the parable of the Good Samaritan. Jesus told this story to show us that our help might not come from those we expect. The priest and the Levite passed by the wounded man, but it was the Samaritan, a person despised by many, who stopped and helped.
God doesn't promise that help will come in the form you approve. Help may come from a stranger, from someone who doesn't look like you or speak your language. God uses whoever He chooses to be a blessing. Open your heart and mind to receive God's grace, no matter the vessel it comes in.
Let us not be like the Pharisees and Sadducees, clinging to prejudice and pride. Instead, let us embrace the divine help God sends our way, recognizing His love and mercy in every act of kindness, no matter who it comes from.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, open our eyes to see Your help in all its forms. Remove the scales of judgment from our hearts. Teach us to love and accept the blessings You send, no matter how unexpected. In Jesus' name, Amen.
