TD Jakes (December-23-2023) Daily Devotional: Understanding the Role of Challenges in Growth.
Bible Quote: "And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and wore no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs." - Luke 8:26-27
The encounter between Jesus and the demon-possessed man in Gadara reveals a deeper spiritual truth about the nature of expanding territories and the inevitable challenges that accompany it. This story is a vivid illustration of the resistance and turmoil that often precede significant breakthroughs and expansions. The demoniac, representing a life tormented and shackled by demonic forces, was the very reason Jesus endured a storm to reach Gadara. His deliverance was not just a personal triumph but a symbol of territorial expansion.
Jesus' declaration, "Let us pass over to the other side," signifies a deliberate move into new territory, both physically and spiritually. It's a powerful metaphor for our own lives: as we seek to expand beyond our current limits, to break away from the familiar into uncharted spiritual and personal territories, opposition is inevitable. The presence of demonic resistance in this story teaches us that significant growth and expansion often come with challenges.
For a long time, the focus on this man's pain overshadowed the greater point of the narrative – that pain and resistance can be precursors to a significant purpose. It’s a reminder that in our own lives, the struggles and battles we face might not just be about our pain, but about a larger divine strategy for expansion and influence.
The self-destructive tendencies of the man in Gadara, his isolation, and torment were not just personal afflictions; they were barriers to the territory Jesus sought to claim. His deliverance was a critical moment, signaling the breaking of demonic influence over the region and the establishment of God's kingdom.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, as we seek to expand our territories and step into new realms You have set for us, grant us the strength to face the inevitable challenges. Help us to see beyond the pain and resistance, recognizing them as part of Your greater plan for growth and influence. May we find courage and resilience in the midst of our struggles, knowing that You are with us, leading us to a greater purpose. Amen.
T.D. Jakes — The Autopsy of a Decade. Sometimes it isn’t straightforward to follow The Spirit versus following our common sense because The Spirit has knowledge that challenges what we see. Nevertheless, our act of following God isn’t an initiative up for others to cast a vote. This decade will be a time full of urgency; therefore, let us cut away the destructive reoccurring patterns from the decade before and put on the mind of Christ. We are not unprofitable servants; instead, I declare, we have the power to provoke His presence. Can you hear what God is saying? 2022 is the year of double portion, and it’s bigger than you think!
Watch TD Jakes Sermon - Overcome Adversity. Life turns on the little things. The big things? You can see them coming. But often, it’s the small decisions that end up changing the trajectory of someone’s life. Knowing when to pivot might not be so obvious. You might not be ready for it. You might not be able to explain it perfectly. But you can usually feel it. Pay attention and seek God. His plan is to take you from where you are to where you’re meant to be! Be obedient as He prepares you for the pivotal moment. Exercise faith and step boldly into the position He’s created just for you!
Uproot It - TD Jakes. God is on the side of the wounded. Even when life seems out of control, you can be sure that God has a plan and a purpose for you. When we become overwhelmed with what others have done wrong, we become filled with anger and find ourselves focused on hate. But, God’s love and forgiveness is seen in our ability to love and forgive. Faith is something that must be released. You can possess faith, but you must put it to use. If you don’t use your faith, then it’s no different than not having any. Don’t just have it in your heart, but let it out; put your faith to the test and be amazed at what God does through your life!
T.D Jakes - Sermon: PASS THE LOVE TEST. Love has no loopholes. Some persons, who touch to your life, may have been taught wrong. They have may have been taught to only love, when the circumstances are right, when the conditions are right. But life keeps demanding, that you've broadened your ability to love. Working with people will demand, that you broaden your ability to love, even people cannot be honest, that you know - they wouldn't like.
