Set Times - Joel Osteen Daily Devotional (March-20-2024). Today's Scripture: Genesis 21:2, AMPC For Sarah became pregnant and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time God had told him.
Today's Word. Abraham was one hundred years old when Sarah did what seemed impossible and gave birth to Isaac at the age of ninety, exactly at the set time God had promised. They had waited for the fulfillment of the promise over twenty years, had seen no sign of it happening, and every circumstance said there was no way. But God is faithful. What He promised was en route.
Maybe God has put promises in your heart that seem too late. You don’t see how you can get well or how your child can get back on course. When thoughts tell you that it’s too late, let that go in one ear and out the other. God is lining up the healing, the favor, the good breaks—they’re already on your schedule. It’s all set in His timing. Keep honoring God and every blessing that has your name on it is coming in. People can’t stop it, bad breaks can’t stop it, age can’t stop it, the economy can’t stop it, and forces of darkness can’t stop it. Get ready for it.
Prayer for Today. Father, thank You that You have established set times to bring Your promises to pass in my life. Give me the grace to accept Your timing and wait patiently, knowing that You’ve already scheduled things in for me. I believe that my times are in Your hands. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

When All Hope Is Lost, Believe God’s Promises - Rick Warren Daily Devotional (September-20-2023). “While God was testing him, Abraham still trusted in God and his promises, and so he offered up his son Isaac and was ready to slay him on the altar of sacrifice; yes, to slay even Isaac, through whom God had promised to give Abraham a whole nation of descendants!” Hebrews 11:17-18 (TLB)
Have you ever felt your hope die?
You can know hope is dying when you hear yourself say the word “never”: “I’ll never get married. I’ll never get that job. I’ll never have children.” You’re certainly not alone. One of the greatest heroes of faith in the Bible, Abraham, felt like that. Romans 4:18 tells us, “Abraham, when hope was dead within him, went on hoping in faith, believing that he would become ‘the father of many nations.’ He relied on the word of God which definitely referred to ‘your descendants’” (Phillips).
What do you do when hope dies and you’re ready to give up? You rely on what God has promised. Where do you turn when everything in you feels like doubting God? You turn to God’s Word. To become a person of faith, you need God’s Word in you.
Notice the Bible says that Abraham “relied on God’s Word.” Nothing is more reliable than God’s Word! Even when Abraham faced his biggest test—God asking him to sacrifice his son—he relied on God’s promises. “While God was testing him, Abraham still trusted in God and his promises, and so he offered up his son Isaac and was ready to slay him on the altar of sacrifice; yes, to slay even Isaac, through whom God had promised to give Abraham a whole nation of descendants!” (Hebrews 11:17-18 TLB). After Abraham and Sarah waited years for a child, God gave them Isaac. And then God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac.
Abraham didn’t panic. The Bible shows three ways Abraham responded in faith:
- Abraham believed God could raise his son from the dead (Hebrews 11:19).
- Abraham told his servant, “We’ll be back,” not, “I’ll be back” as he and Isaac headed up the hill for the sacrifice (Genesis 22:5).
- When Isaac asked Abraham, “Where is the lamb we will sacrifice?” Abraham answered, “The Lord will provide” (Genesis 22:8).
Abraham believed the promises of God. He knew God would either spare his son or resurrect him. When all hope seems lost, put your hope in God. “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love” (Romans 5:5 NLT).
Talk It Over
- Have you ever felt like all your hope was gone? How did you respond—with panic or with faith?
- How can you start or continue to cultivate a faith like Abraham’s?
- Which of God’s promises has been helpful to you when you have lost hope? How can you help someone else grab hold of that promise?
A Pit Can't Stop A Promise! - Derick Faison Sunday Sermon June-25-2023. When Joseph received an extravagant coat from his father, Jacob, his brothers hated him. Instead of seeking the favor of their father, they misplaced their anger on their brother. They stripped him and threw him in a pit. What they didn’t understand was that the coat wasn’t the favor, it was just a symbol of the favor. God had chosen Joseph, just as He has chosen you! He doesn’t choose those who are perfect, but those who have purpose. No matter how deep you feel you have sunk, trust God to use your disadvantages to propel you to great heights. You cannot be an overcomer if there’s nothing for you to overcome. No pit can stop God’s promises.
Bruised Love!: Part 2 - TD Jakes Sunday Sermon | February-26-2023. Scripture: John 3: 14-17 (NIV). God gives the ultimate example of “tough love.” We often confuse His chastening for punishment. But God is trying to teach us to “look up” and refocus on Him when we’re in trouble! Look up and let the enemy’s holds fall off of your family! Look up as your finances begin to overflow! Look up and receive miraculous healing! Look up and realize you’re saved because God let His Son become the embodiment of sin and give His life for you! The lower we feel, the harder we should focus on Him!
