Jentezen Franklin (August-11-2022) Daily Devotional: Thoughts on good leadership
“If a bugle call isn’t clear, how would you know to get ready for battle?” 1 Co 14:8 CEV
No matter how great your vision is, if you’re not someone people are willing to follow, it will never be realized. Who you are matters! The most important message you can share is yourself. Here are six thoughts on good leadership: (1) Trust connects people to a leader’s vision; without it, they will be disconnected.
With it, they will get on board and help move the vision forward. (2) Leadership isn’t just about what you do; it’s about inspiring and encouraging others. Good leaders bring out the best in people by sharing the best in themselves. (3) Just because you’re the leader, don’t run people over! Abraham Lincoln said, “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” With power comes the responsibility to serve, develop, and empower others. By helping them grow, you grow. (4) Rules without relationship lead to resistance.
You can have all the rules you want, but if you don’t invest in people and develop a relationship with them, they will rebel. (5) Paul says, “If a bugle call isn’t clear, how would you know to get ready for battle?” So lead with optimism, enthusiasm, and positive energy, and weed out pessimism and negativity. Focus on solutions, not complaints. Philosopher Nicholas Murray Butler said, “Optimism is essential to achievement, and it is also the foundation of courage and true progress.” (6) Good leaders don’t have all the answers, but they build a team that has—or can get them. Success is a process, not a destination. Winning is a by-product of teamwork, focus, and commitment. To succeed, focus on the people and the process, not the outcome.
Daily Devotional (July-20-2022) SPIRITUALITY AND LEADERSHIP
Scripture Reference: 1 Samuel 8:5-7 - "And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them"
Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah with one request. They had reason together and had arrived on a decision. They came not to inquire from God, they came with their minds made up. There're many believers with the same attitude today.
Many make bad decisions everyday. Many people elect a spiritual leader who will eventually lead them into bondage. They don't want a leader that will guide them to the truth and to bring them to where God had made ready. People reject what will bring them into greatness and settle for failure. Many want leaders that will think for them, leaders that will put heavy burdens on them. They want leaders that will cease their future.
The Israelites were a people that complain and cry anytime they face a little challenge. They were emotionally unstable. They murmured over anything whether good or bad to Moses. Little chance they got they compared their past with their future.
"And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice" (John 10:4)
They came together creating a new leader of issues. Many go for leaders that will take them backwards. This generation rejects the voice God had put over them. Always God raises a voice over you ready to bring you into where He has design for you. Stop creating solutions that may not even be a solution in the first place. Stop creating new leaders that will carry you into bondage.
PRAYER - Dear Father thank you for this great lesson of wisdom impacted into my spirit. Your Word is indeed my direction of life. I make right decisions everyday in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.

Daily Devotional (August-26-2022) LEADERSHIP WITH WISDOM
Scripture Reference: 2 Samuel 23:15-17 - “And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate! And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD. And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? Therefore he would not drink it…”
We are surrounded by many leaders who only take advantage of the devotions of their followers or Subordinates. Most leaders are only interested in what they will get from people and not necessarily what others will get from following them. David was blessed with mighty men who really loved him. They were so devoted to him that even when he expressed a wish to drink water from a particular well, they willingly risked their lives to get it for him. Without hesitation many followers willingly can do things because of their leaders.
He expressed a wish but they saw it as an instruction. This is a kind of devotion where the leader must draw the line and define the boundaries with wisdom.
David did not drink the water. He poured it as an offering to God. Unlike many today, the love and devotion from people is a way to get everything they want and to show control. When you love a person, everything you do for them does not have to be from a request or an instruction. Their wishes and desires should be enough.
With the example from David it shows that when people love you, you do not always have to convert your wishes to instructions. You would see them do things without you asking or insisting. There are certain things you shouldn’t take for granted. Give room to people to genuinely love you, without threats and fear. If they do not do things like this naturally for you, it may be because you do not show love. If you demonstrate love towards others, love from others will be directed towards you.
Do not take advantage of the love and devotion of others. David did not give an unreasonable instruction to the men to risk their lives to get him that water. Well, many people (members or followers) can blindly out of love do things just to please the leader. But let it be known publicly that service to you (leader) is service to God but with all wisdom and decency.
Prayer - Thank you Father for your Word in my spirit which is my wisdom and direction, I’m the light of the world directing many to you. The wisdom of God is at work in me in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
