Stretch The Truth - Tim Somers, Elevation ChurchSunday Sermon March-12-2023. There’s life on the other side of the let down. In “Stretch The Truth,” Pastor Tim Somers challenges us to trust that the same God who raised Jesus from the grave wants to breathe life into our situations.
Christian Daily Devotional (February-09-2023) Waiting Quietly, Trusting In God.
Scripture Reference: Psalms 62:1-2,8 (NLT) - “I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. – O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.”
How do you wait? I have to admit, I do not always wait with patience. I do not always wait with faith. Often, when I have to wait, anger, worry, and fear are my companions. Not far behind are murmuring and complaining waiting to have their say. Why is that? Why is waiting so hard? It is because I forget that it is God I am waiting on. Worse, I behave as if He doesn’t really exist. David was different. He said that he waited quietly before God. Why? Because, if David was going to be victorious, he knew it would be because of God. God was his rock, salvation, fortress and refuge. David knew the peace that came from trusting God and he implores us to do the same. He says, “Trust in God at all times. Pour out our heart to Him.” What a difference this will make. As we pour out our concerns, worries, fears, doubts, all that is on our heart to God, He will reassure us. He will guide us. He will give us the peace we need. Today when the pressure is on, when you are under the gun and you have to wait, try waiting quietly on God. He will be your rock, He will give you the victory.
Prayer - Father, forgive me for my impatience. Forgive me to leaving You out of my life. Help me to remember that You love me and care about the details of my life. Today help me, as I wait patiently on You. AMEN
Daily Devotional (December-04-2022) Trust and Obey.
Scripture Reference. James 1:5-6 (NIV) - “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt.”
Have you ever had people you are close to make a decision about something you know a lot about, yet they never asked your opinion? Have you ever been asked your opinion and then totally ignored? Have you ever been asked to “weigh-in” on a decision only to have to “buy-in” to a decision you disagree with? It is hard when you are ignored or when decisions are made that you think should have been different. What about God? How does He feel about people who go through life never asking for His opinion on anything? How about people that pray a desperate request never really intending to listen? Or worst, what about those that ask God for wisdom and treat His answer as simply a “weigh-in” deciding later to ask God to “buy-in” to the decision they made contrary to what God suggested? Ask yourself, “Do you ask God for wisdom or do you go about your life without His opinion?” Or, “If you do ask God for wisdom, do you listen to it or are you off to something else not really listening for an answer at all?” Finally, if you do ask for wisdom and hear God’s voice, do you “obey” it or do you “weigh” it. James tells us to ask God for wisdom and then believe God will give it to us and not doubt His answer. Today, when you need wisdom, ask God, really ask Him. Then, listen to what He says. When you hear, follow His path. It is like the old Hymn says, “Trust and obey, for there is no other way. To be happy in Jesus, just trust and obey.”
Prayer - Father, I know that I don’t ask You for wisdom like I should. And when I have asked, I have often ignored You. Forgive me Lord. I know I need Your wisdom for this life and I ask that You would give it to me. Then, Holy Spirit, guide me, direct me, empower me to do what Your wisdom dictates. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN
Joyce Meyer (November-28-2022) Daily Devotional: Trust God’s Grace.
I discovered years ago that every time I became frustrated it was because I was trying to do something myself, in my own strength, instead of putting my faith in God and receiving His grace (help). Receiving a revelation of God's grace was a major breakthrough for me. I was always "trying" to do something and leaving God out of the loop. I tried to change myself and my husband and children, tried to get healed, tried to prosper, tried to make my ministry grow, and tried to change every circumstance in my life that I did not like. I was frustrated because none of my trying was producing any good results.
God will not permit us to succeed without Him. If He did, we would take the credit that is due Him. If we could change people, we would be changing them to suit our purposes, which would steal their freedom to make their own choices. I finally learned to pray for what I thought needed to be changed and let God do it His way in His timing. When I began trusting His grace, I entered His rest. Grace is always flowing to us in every situation, but it must be received by faith.
Prayer of the Day: Lord, please give me the understanding of Your grace that frees me from doing things in my own strength. Help me to do my part and rest in the fact that You will do the rest, amen.
Joyce Meyer (October-01-2022) Daily Devotional: You Can Trust God.
God sometimes speaks by giving us peace deep inside our hearts. You may sometimes face situations in which everyone around you is telling you to trust God and be at peace, but the "how to" evades you. Fears are screaming at you, unnerving you, and threatening you. Friends are saying, "Everything will be all right," but you find that hard to believe until God Himself speaks deep in your heart and says, "You can trust me; I will take care of this. Everything really is going to be all right."
In 1989, I went to the doctor for a regular checkup. He discovered a small lump in my breast, which turned out to be a fast-growing type of cancer, and recommended surgery immediately.
As a result of this news, I struggled with tremendous fear. I had trouble sleeping and there were times when fear hit me so hard, I felt I was going to fall down. No matter how many of my family members or friends told me God would take care of it, I still battled great fear until very early one morning, about 3:00, as I tried to sleep and couldn't, God spoke deep inside my heart and said, "Joyce, you can trust Me."
After that, I did not experience any sickening fear again. I was apprehensive as I waited for results on tests of my lymph nodes to see if I would need further treatment, but I was not terrified and I knew I was in God's hands and whatever happened, He would take care of me.
As it turned out, I did not need further treatment. We realized that God had saved my life through early detection. I ended up thankful instead of fearful—and that's what can happen in any situation when we learn to hear God's voice.
Prayer of the Day: God, I need faith to overcome the fear that I’m facing today. Please guide me, direct me, and lead me as I listen for Your voice and help me tap into the faith You have already given me today and every day, amen.
Joel Osteen (July-26-2022) Daily Devotional: Where to Put Your Trust.
Today’s Scripture: Isaiah 31:1, TLB - Woe to those who run to Egypt for help, trusting their mighty cavalry and chariots instead of looking to the Holy One of Israel and consulting him.
Today’s Word: It's interesting that with all of today's incredible technology and amazing medical advancements and procedures that one virus, such a seemingly small thing, shut down the whole world in 2020. It reminds us of just how little control we have over our world. If we put our trust in our finances, they can go down overnight. If we put our trust in our job or our career, it can suddenly change for any number of reasons. That's why it's so important to put your trust in God. He's the One who doesn't change. He's the Source of our strength, ideas, creativity, resources, and wisdom. God is the giver of all good things. Yes, we appreciate the companies we work for and the income each week, but they are not our source. They are simply a resource that the Source is using.
God is looking for people whose hearts are turned toward Him. Make sure that you keep Him first place. You don't have to seek the blessings; just seek Him and the blessings will seek you.
Prayer for Today: Father, thank You that You are constantly working, constantly showing me Your goodness with every good gift that comes into my life. Thank You that You are my Source. I will keep You first place and live today with an attitude of thankfulness and gratefulness. In Jesus' Name, Amen
Joyce Meyer (June-24-2022) Daily Devotional: Trust in God
Faith is the leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust. That means you need to lean all of yourself on God, believing that only He can accomplish His will and purpose in your life. Your only job is to abide in Him in faith.
John 6:29 (AMPC) says, This is the work (service) that God asks of you: that you believe in the One Whom He has sent [that you cleave to, trust, rely on, and have faith in His Messenger].
As you are quiet before the Lord at the end of your day, believe and lean your entire personality on Him in absolute trust and confidence.
Prayer Starter: Lord Jesus, I trust you to accomplish Your purpose in my life. Thank You for another day to do your will, amen.
