Daily Devotion (February-17-2023) EMBRACE THE HOLY SPIRIT IN YOUR LIFE!
Scripture Reference - "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (Acts 1:8)
The Church winning the battle against the kingdom of darkness is the Holy Spirit. When you receive the Spirit you have received you very source of all power to cause the change you desire. You are powerless untill you receive the Spirit. As a Christian your advantage in life is the Holy Spirit. When He comes into your life fear disappears forever.
Therefore, it doesn't matter what's happening in the world today; refuse to fear. When you watch and listen to the news, is full of fear but my dear, you have received the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah! So, don't mix fear with your faith. The kingdom to which you belong, and the life that God has given you, function with the life that God has given you, function with the exclusion of fear.
My dear, after you are born again, everything in your life is already touched by the power of the Holy Spirit. There's life in you called the Spirit; when He comes into your life He gives you counsel and guide you because you are now a new person. How your old life was has now changed. Man can no more be your helper but God. My dear, allow the Holy Spirit to help you because He knows the kind of future He has for you. Don't be deceived that you can still hold on with your formal friendships, past relationships and past behavior.
Choose the Holy Spirit to guide and direct you through your pastors and you will be surprised on how your life will turn out to be. Trust your life on God and take His Word as everything.
PRAYER - Thank you dear Father, for sending the Holy Spirit, who is the earnest or down payment of purchased possessions, and by whom I'm walled against fear, and uncertainty. I take advantage of His ministry, to help, guide, counsel, strengthen and comfort me till Jesus comes. Amen
Jentezen Franklin (September-14-2022) Daily Devotional: Instead of worrying, stand on God’s Word
“Be strong and courageous. Be not afraid or dismayed…for there is…with us…our God to help us.” 2 Ch 32:7-8 AMPC
Have you lost your sense of peace? Is your mind besieged with worry? If so, begin to program your thinking with these Bible promises—write them down, carry them with you, and read them regularly: (1) “The Lord…watches over you…stands beside you…keeps you from all harm…watches over your life…keeps watch…as you come and go” (Ps 121:5-8 NLT). (2) “Those who know your name trust in you, for you…have never forsaken those who seek you” (Ps 9:10 NIV). (3) “Our fears for today…worries about tomorrow…even the powers of hell…nothing in all creation will…separate us from the love of God” (Ro 8:38-39 NLT). (4) “They will fight against you, but…not prevail…for I am with you to save…and deliver you” (Jer 15:20 NKJV).
(5) “You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and…rest in safety” (Job 11:18 NIV). (6) “I will lie down in peace and sleep, for though I am alone…Lord, you will keep me safe” (Ps 4:8 TLB). (7) “In the world you have…distress and frustration; but…[take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]!…I have…[deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you]” (Jn 16:33 AMPC). (8) “Be not afraid or dismayed…for the battle is not yours, but God’s” (2Ch 20:15 AMPC). (9) “Fear not…When you pass through the waters…they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned” (Isa 43:1-2 NKJV). (10) “I will rescue you…declares the Lord; you will not be given into the hands of those you fear” (Jer 39:17 NIV).
Joyce Meyer (March-02-2022) Daily Devotional: Stable People Get Promoted
Many people feel able and qualified to do a particular thing, and yet they live frustrated lives because the right doors don’t seem to open. Why is that? The truth is they may be “able, but not stable.” God has given them abilities, but perhaps they have not made the effort to mature in stability of character.
God must be able to trust us, and other people must be able to depend on us, in order for God to increase our level of responsibility. When we are stable and mature, our lives are marked by consistency and thankfulness. We continue to operate in the fruit of the Spirit even when we must endure situations or people that are not what we would like them to be.
Life is not problem-free, and it never will be. Let circumstances do what they will—but as far as you’re concerned, be determined to remain stable and thankful in the Lord.
Prayer Starter: Thank You, Father, for the way You help bring strength and maturity to my life. Help me to be both “able and stable,” so that I might accomplish all You have called me to do.
Charles Stanley (January-23-2023) Daily Devotional: Sunday Reflection: Growing in Obedience
God teaches us obedience so our faith will increase and our life will be transformed.
Any good gardener will tell you the importance of staking new plants. The braces provide support and help plants grow straight and tall. In teaching us obedience, the Lord similarly redirects our natural inclinations so we can grow in a Godward direction.
As we mature in our faith, we see that the Lord is teaching us how to submit ourselves to Him in ways both big and small. And yet He never forces us to comply. That means obedience isn’t passive; it’s a decision we make again and again until we’ve completed our time on earth.
Remember that even Jesus practiced the discipline of submission, and—as always—He serves as our role model (Heb. 5:7-8). Like Him, we must choose to live obediently, even when what we’re being asked to do is hard or painful. This willingness to listen and follow, no matter what the cost, glorifies God and transforms us in ways we never imagined (2 Cor. 9:13).
Think about it - Have you been fighting against the Lord’s guidance? How can you begin to make a better choice and grow in obedience to Him?
Joseph Prince (December-06-2022) Daily Devotional: Stand Upon God’s Promises
His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature. 2 Peter 1:3–4
Some years ago, I went to Israel with my pastors and we were introduced to a Jewish believer who became our guide. He shared with us how he was miraculously protected from the heavy gunfire during the fourth Arab-Israeli war in 1973.
Our guide had grown up believing the written Word—“A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.” He believed that regardless of who fell around him, it would never happen to him. That was why as he stood exposed when the bullets tore past him, he did not fear even for a moment that any of the bullets would hit him.
In contrast, he told us about a friend in the army who had gone to the Israeli military academy together with him. During the Yom Kippur war, his friend told him this: “I’ve got a feeling that I won’t make it through this war. I just feel I’m going to die in this war.” Although our guide told him not to say such things, his friend continued. He believed he would die in the war as much as our guide believed that he would not. Sadly, this friend was indeed killed during the war.
The devil is known as “the accuser of our brethren” (Rev. 12:10). He will always try to keep you self-occupied and in fear. God wants you Christ-occupied and in faith! You might have a friend of the same age who perhaps died suddenly from an illness even though he or she had seemed healthier than you. The devil will try to plant fears in your heart that you are next. By now, you know what to do.
Take up your shield of faith and declare, “It is written—‘A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.’” Whatever “it” may be—cancer, disease, accidents, terrorist attacks—it shall not come near you! When you board a plane, that plane has no choice but to land safely because YOU are on board, Amen!
Beloved, the Lord Jesus sacrificed His life on the cross so that you can stand upon His promises and claim them for your life. They are all fully paid for by the blood of Jesus, and the Father will see to it that you enjoy them!
If you do not know what promises to claim, can I encourage you to start with the many promises listed in Psalm 91? Memorize Psalm 91 and when you are under attack, quote it the way our Lord Jesus quoted Scripture. Meditate on Psalm 91 and allow yourself to be fortified by this prayer of protection. There is such a power and authority that comes with quoting the pure and unadulterated written Word of God, and I invite you to start walking in that power and authority today!
Charles Stanley (December-01-2022) Daily Devotional: The Thrill of Obedience
Obeying God's will in our lives should not be a burden but a thrilling adventure that we walk through with Him each day.
Psalm 40:6-8 - Sacrifice and meal offering You have not desired; My ears You have opened; Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required. Then I said, ``Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me.I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart."
Some Christians view obeying God only as a way to avoid the negative consequences of disobedience. But if this is our thinking, then obedience becomes a heavy burden rather than an exciting adventure motivated by love for Jesus Christ and a desire to please Him.
The reason some of us see following the Lord as a burden is because we tend to think of His will in terms of big and potentially costly decisions. But doing God’s will isn’t just about large issues; it’s also daily obedience in small matters of life. Philippians 4:6 (Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God) tells us not to be anxious about anything but to pray about everything. In bringing even fairly mundane concerns to the Lord, we’re being trained to trust and obey Him in more critical matters.
The Christian life is a walk of faith—one step of obedience after another. Though we may think the situations we face are unrelated, the Lord moves us through a variety of circumstances toward His ultimate purpose. If, for the sake of safety, we back off from obeying, we’ll miss the opportunity to experience His awesome power working in and through us. Small choices may seem insignificant, but they lead to a thrilling lifelong journey with God.
Joyce Meyer (August-30-2022) Daily Devotional: Facing Unexpected Storms
Not all storms are in the forecast. I once started a four-session teaching seminar, and after the first session, I noticed I had a sore throat. Each session it got worse, and by the final one I sounded like a squeaky mouse! Having very little voice power and facing a few thousand people who have come to hear you speak is not fun.
Things don’t always work out the way we would like them to, but it is during those times that we need to continue trusting God and believe that He will work good out of our difficulty. I was teaching on the topic “Running Our Race and Finishing Strong,” which is rather humorous if you think about it! I decided to squeak through the final message, and it turned out better than it would have if I had been completely well.
Don’t get distracted by the storms of life. Stay focused and do what you need to do whether it is easy or difficult. The more we use our faith, the stronger it will become!
Prayer Starter: Father, I thank You for Your strength in my weakness. When stormy circumstances come, help me stay focused on You and Your will for me.
Joyce Meyer (July-23-2021) Daily Devotional: Controlling Our Words by God’s Grace
According to this Scripture, the one thing proving our level of spiritual maturity isn't how religious we are—whether we can quote Scripture, or the good works we do—it is the words from our mouths.
James 1:26 says, If anyone thinks himself to be religious (piously observant of the external duties of his faith) and does not bridle his tongue but deludes his own heart, this person's religious service is worthless (futile, barren).
No matter how religious you think you are, the true test proving your spirituality is whether you bridle your tongue or not. Bridle means "to restrain or control." If we aren't controlling our tongues, we are not operating in the level of maturity God wants us to have.
Prayer Starter: Lord, through You, I am able to control the words I speak by God's grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Rick Warren (March-28-2023) Daily Devotional: God Made You to Love You
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” - John 3:16 (NLT)
God loves you so much that he sent Jesus on a mission of love with a message of love. The Bible doesn’t say God has love; it says God is love. Love is his nature; God is love.
God created the entire universe. He created this planet, and he created the human race. Then he created you because he loves you.
God made you so he could love you and so that you could love him. God’s love for you is the reason your heart’s beating right now; it’s the reason you’re breathing.
God’s good news is that he loves you on your bad days just as much as he loves you on your good days. He loves you when you can feel his love, and he loves you when you can’t seem to feel his love. He loves you regardless of whether or not you think you deserve his love.
There is nothing you can do that will make God stop loving you. You could try, but you simply can’t do it—because his love for you is based upon his character and not on anything you do, say, or feel.
God loves you so much that he sent his only Son, Jesus, into this world, “so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NLT).
When Jesus stretched his arms out as wide as the cross, he was saying, “I love you this much! I love you so much it hurts. I love you so much I’ll die for you so that I won’t have to live without you.”
Ephesians 3 says God’s love is so wide, long, high, and deep that humans can’t fully understand it. As you go about your day today, know that God is loving you at every moment, no matter what.
Talk It Over
- What one thing have you done that you have difficulty believing God loves you in spite of?
How important do you think it is to feel God’s love, especially on your bad or rough days?
Since God is love, how is his love part of your relationships? How do you express his love in your relationships?
Accept God’s love and forgiveness today.
God made you so that he could love you and you could love him. And he most clearly showed his love for you when Jesus died on the cross for your sins. Are you ready to repent of your sins and accept the forgiveness and love God is offering you? If so, pray this today:
“Dear God, I want to have a real, deep, and abiding faith in you. I confess that I have sinned and that I need your forgiveness and mercy. Thank you for loving me so much that you sent Jesus to die for my sins, so I can be forgiven.
“Jesus, you promised that anyone who believes in you will not perish but have everlasting life and eternity with you in heaven. I believe in you and accept you as my Lord and Savior. I want to follow you and spend the rest of my life serving you. Amen.”
