We Are Not Crazy - Jentezen Franklin. God measures greatness by service, not status. Greatness isn’t measured by how many people serve you, but how many people YOU serve. That’s how God views service. To be like Jesus is to be a servant. Service is a spiritual gift. We all have the gift of service.
Greatness Out of Messes - Joel Osteen Daily Devotional (October-11-2022). Today’s Scripture: Genesis 21:17, NIV God heard the boy crying...
Today’s Word. At the age of sixteen, Ishmael found himself abandoned in the desert confused, rejected, out of water and food. He was born and raised in the dysfunctional relationship between his mother and Abraham and Sarah. He was paying the price for the strife and division in the family that he was not responsible for and could not control, dealing with the consequences of their poor choices. Sent away from his home and about to die, this young man's cry was heard by God, who not only saved him and his mother but promised to make a great nation out of Ishmael.
God was showing us that He knows how to bring greatness out of a great mess. You may have had a rough start, the odds have been against you, but God is watching over you. He knows what you didn't get. He knows who wasn't in your life. He knows the pain, the betrayal, and the hurt. Call out to Him. He has a plan to make more out of your life than you ever imagined.
Prayer for Today. Father, thank You that You are watching over me, and You know what I didn't get and who wasn't there for me. Thank You that You have a plan for how to deal with the past and make me into more than I've ever imagined. I believe that because You are my Father, I can still do great things. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Joel Osteen (May-06-2019) Daily Devotion: Proclaim His Greatness.
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples. Psalm 105:1, NASB
TODAY'S WORD: When someone gives you a meaningful or costly gift, how do you show your appreciation? Do you tell them how grateful you are? What do you do with that gift? When it’s something you are truly thankful for, you openly and proudly display the gift. When others see and admire it, you probably tell them where it came from and about the generosity of the giver. In the same way, we should give thanks to the Lord and constantly show our gratefulness and appreciation for all He has done for us by displaying the gifts He’s given us. We should also display the characteristics of our heavenly Father. We should display His likeness. We should have His eyes, His mouth and His mannerisms, too. We should display love, peace, joy, kindness and hope. We should live our lives in such a way that our very actions declare His greatness and cause others to take notice. Declare His greatness by living a life of gratitude to Him and let the whole world know what He has done for you!
PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father in heaven, I commit to You every area of my life—my mind, my will, and my emotions. Reveal to me anything that isn’t pleasing to You. Show me Your ways so that I can walk with You and live righteously in every area of my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Joel Osteen (May-03-2019) Daily Devotion: Created for Greatness.
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10, NIV
TODAY'S WORD: It’s easy to go through life thinking that we’re average; we’re ordinary. “There’s nothing special about me. I’m just one of the six billion people on earth.” No, when God created you, He put a part of Himself in you. You could say that you have the DNA of Almighty God. You are destined to do great things, destined to leave your mark on this generation. The truth is, there is nothing average about you; but too many times we don’t realize who we are. We focus on our weaknesses or what we don’t have. We focus on the mistakes we’ve made or the family from which we’ve come. We end up settling for mediocrity when we were created for greatness!
If you’re going to break out of average, you need to remind yourself every day, “I have the DNA of the Most High God. Greatness is in my genes. I come from a bloodline of champions.” If you’ll have the attitude of a champion, you’ll live the life of a champion and boldly embrace the blessings He has in store for you!
PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father, thank You for preparing me to do the good works You have prepared. I am not average. I am not ordinary. I am created for greatness, and I belong to Almighty God. Thank You for Your faithfulness in Jesus’ name! Amen.
