The Storm Proof - Touré Roberts, Sunday Sermon. Scripture: 2 Peter 1: 1-11 (NKJV). The key to creating a stormproof life is found in how you build your “ark.” Your ark is your message. It manifests from your mission-based mentality. Ultimately, it is what God saved you for. Its foundation should be based on faith, fortified by hope, and maximized by virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, and more! Seek the Lord and His kingdom, and you’ll find your spirit reignited and your self-identity rejuvenated. It’s never too late to build!
Read Jack Hibbs Weekly Devotional (August-14 2023) TRUE KNOWLEDGE.
1 Timothy 6:20 - “O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge—.”
For irrational and pitiful reasons, the Christianity of the previous century often lagged in scientific discoveries. It wasn’t always so. From the fifteenth to nineteenth centuries, some of the most accomplished scientists of the day were renowned Christian thinkers. Those masters of physics, mathematics, medicine, and astronomy were notable believers of the Bible. Creation and the observable evidence of God’s existence were integral to their studies.
According to their personal journals, many, like Isaac Newton, were prompted to pursue specific scientific endeavors based on their Bible readings. Scientist Matthew Maury (1806-1873), the Father of Oceanography, was so captivated by the phrase “that pass through the paths of the seas” in Psalm 8:8 that it drove his research. Maury swore to discover the scientific evidence for what he later described as “rivers in the sea,” which we know today as ocean currents.
As Christians, we should better understand how things work in the universe. We should get the best grades in all our schooling because we’re thinking deeply and right. And because we are Christians, we should be a formidable presence before foolish and weak evolutionary atheism that passes as knowledge. Pastor and author A. W. Tozer said, “Don’t throw your head away—you’ll need it.” That’s good advice for us today!
Studying the world and its elements without God will always end as an exercise in futility. Whether professor, student, or everyday observer of the natural world, may the Creator of all seen and unseen be your Guide to great and magnificent discoveries.
Daily Devotional (July-14-2023) REVELATION KNOWLEDGE.
Scripture Reference: John 17:3 - “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
The Psalmist said of the word of God, that it is a lamp unto his feet and a light unto his path. Light is for direction, but very importantly, light is knowledge. This is what we will look at today.
When you come to see what you have not seen before, you have received light. The first work of God's word is to school our ignorance(See Psalms 119:66). To show. To unravel. To point us to transformative information. The word of God is the medium through which we behold and become like Christ whom we have been predestined to become. It is as we hear and study the word of God that we come to see and understand who we are to become. The word of God forms and renews us.
Ignorance is not just the outright absence of knowledge, it is also knowing too much of the wrong thing. The Pharisees knew to pray, but they had the wrong knowledge of prayer. (See Matthew 6:5, Luke 18:10-12), so you see, it is possible to be knowledgeable in the wrong thing. One of the functionalities of scriptures as seen in2 Timothy 3:16 is correction. This will mean that not only do we learn by the word, we also unlearn.
Knowledge is truly power, so we study and hear the word of God to know all that we are and have in Christ. Someone who does not know that he/she has an inheritance is no different from a person who doesn't have the inheritance at all. The word of God shows us all we have received and how to walk in them. The most important thing in the life of a believer is the revelation of God's word. You cannot do better than your level of knowledge. The difference between where you are and where you should be is the application of light. For instance, when a person knows that he or she is royalty, an orientation of the mind occurs, and certain ways of thinking and behavior will stop. If you know who you are, you will act like who you are. This is why Paul asks the question, "Know ye not..." (See 1 Corinthians 3:16). Knowing will and should change you. Light truly changes everything starting with the mindset, and then the outward conduct. You should and will do better when you know better. Go for light! Go for the knowledge of God's word.
AFFIRMATION: I affirm that I have revelation knowledge! I am not in the dark, neither am I ignorant. I see, I know, I do, I become. I see Him, and see me, as He sees me in Him. Glory!
