Daily Devotional (December-29-2023) THANKSGIVING: THE KEY TO WHOLENESS.

Scripture Reference: "Jesus said to him “Get up and go [on your way]. Your Faith [your personal trust in Me and your confidence in God's Power] has restored you to health.” Luke 17:19.

The end of every year ushers in a Season of Thanksgiving which squarely places the onus upon us as Christian believers to show our gratitude to the Lord God Almighty for everything He has done thus far. The Holy Scriptures admonish us to do this after consciously documenting His Faithfulness that we may "forget not all His Benefits" (Ps. 103:2). One of the Greatest Benefits of Thanksgiving is Restoration or Wholeness. Nevertheless, we must understand that there is One Major Key that unlocks this in the life of a genuine giver of thanks. An in-depth study of the Gospel according to Luke 17:11-19 reveals to us how to trigger off Wholeness through Thanksgiving. Our Lord Jesus was passing through the midst of Samaria and Galilee en route to Jerusalem when He came across ten lepers who were standing afar off: "And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have Mercy on us!” (verse 13). Moved with Compassion, He instructed them to go and show themselves to the priest. As they went in obedience to His Instructions, something Miraculous happened: "And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned and with a loud voice glorified God" (verse 15).

The Holy Scriptures go on further to say that this man, overwhelmed with sincere gratitude, fell on his face before the Lord Jesus in worship, giving Him thanks. Pay close attention to the last five words of the sixteenth verse: "AND HE WAS A SAMARITAN."(verse 16). Why is this information so relevant? Well, there were ten lepers who were healed as they went in Obedience to the Lord's Instructions but only one returned to thank Him. This one was a Samaritan while the other nine were Jews. For the Purpose of context, the Samaritans were the result of the crossbreeding of Jews who intermarried with Assyrians in the Northern Kingdom of Israel after they were taken into captivity during the reign of King Hoshea. They were ostracized because they were viewed as outcasts and scum to pure Jews and were even forbidden from assisting in the rebuilding of the Temple after the exiles returned. They were treated like dogs and strangers to the Abrahamic Covenant. Even the Lord Jesus acknowledged this prejudice when He said: "Were there not found any who returned to give Glory to God EXCEPT THIS FOREIGNER?" (verse 18). What is the implication of that question? The other nine lepers who were Jews did not see the need to return to give Jesus thanks because they saw themselves as children of Abraham who had a right to Healing. After all, Healing was the children's bread (Matt. 15:26). On the other hand, the Samaritan knew that he did not qualify. As if it wasn't bad enough that he wasn't a Jew, he was also a leper (a Samaritan leper for that matter). No wonder he was overwhelmed with gratitude to Jesus Christ which prompted the Lord to say to him: "Arise, go your way. YOUR FAITH HAS MADE YOU WELL "(verse 19).

The word "well" in the aforementioned Scripture is derived from the Greek verb "sozo," which means "a Total Salvation and Restoration or Wholeness." The disease called Leprosy (also referred to as "Hanson's disease" nowadays) usually results in a loss of appendages as well as a loss of livelihood and vital relationships. The Samaritan got everything he lost back because he gave thanks to the Lord Jesus for His Extravagant Grace and Mercy. The foundation for the sin of ingratitude is a sense of entitlement. Simply put, it becomes much easier to offer God the Thanksgiving that is due Him the moment you understand that He owes you nothing. The fastest and easiest way to enjoy Grace is to always remember that you do not qualify for it. The Lord Almighty grant us understanding in this matter.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we thank You so much for Your Faithfulness. We know that Thanksgiving triggers off Wholeness in our lives. O Lord, we come against every entitlement mentality we may have that insulates us from Grace. We honour You Lord in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.

Daily Devotional (December-26-2023) THANKSGIVING: THE KEY TO EXPONENTIAL INCREASE.

Scripture Reference: "I will offer to You the Sacrifice of Thanksgiving, and will call upon the Name of the Lord." Psalm 116:17 (NKJV)

We have studied from our previous devotionals and clearly seen that provision never gets exhausted upon the table of a Faithful Thanksgiver. Nature itself teaches us that the default tendency of human beings is to become more favourably disposed to the grateful and less so to ingrates. Sometimes it's hardly convenient to show gratitude when we focus our eyes upon our misfortunes rather than our fortunes, hence the Holy Bible instructs us to "continually offer the Sacrifice of Praise to God, that is, the Fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His Name" (Heb. 13:15). Simply put, the Most Priceless Form of Thanksgiving to the Lord God Almighty is that which is offered up to Him in the face of crisis and troubles. It is undoubtedly this kind that triggers off Exponential Increase.

By the Inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the prophet Jeremiah foresaw and prophesied the Restoration of Israel and Judah after the Babylonian captivity which lasted for Seventy Long Years: "Then out of them shall proceed Thanksgiving, and the voice of them who make merry; I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish. I will also glorify them and they shall not be small" (Jer. 30:19).

Because of their idolatry and persistent sin, the Southern Kingdom of Judah was taken captive by King Nebuchadnezzar into Babylon, roughly a hundred and thirty-three years after the Northern Kingdom of Israel was taken captive by the Assyrians. The Jews spent Seventy Years in exile and were oblivious to what the future held for them, until King Cyrus the Persian issued the Proclamation of Emancipation which liberated them. However, Prophet Jeremiah had given them a Major Prophetic Strategy decades earlier. It was a heart of Thanksgiving that triggered off Multiplication amongst them even to the point where "their nobles shall be from among them and their governor shall come from their midst..." (Jer. 30:21). Both Zerubabbel and Nehemiah, future governors of Jerusalem, are conspicuous examples of the Fulfilments of this Prophecy.

What you have in your hands and at your disposal may seem inadequate. The resources you have may barely meet your basic needs. However, a wise man once said, "I was crying because I had no shoes until I saw someone who had no legs." God doesn't get Glory FROM our setbacks but He must get Glory IN SPITE OF our setbacks. Just like our Lord Jesus, present those five loaves and two fish before Him with gratitude and experience Never Ending Exponential Increase. Such is the Power of Thanksgiving because our God is able to do "exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the Power that works in us" (Eph. 3:20).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we ascribe to You alone all the Glory, Honour and Praise. Thank You for everything You have done for us throughout the year. We also thank You, O Lord, in anticipation of an increase in every area of our lives in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.

Watch Bill Johnson Sermon - An Unlikely Weapon: Discovering the Power of Thanksgiving. Bill Johnson teaches on the power of thanksgiving and how it is a surprising, yet key weapon in spiritual warfare. Scripture tells us to give thanks in everything - not that we should be thankful for the challenges that come our way, but to be thankful in every moment, knowing that God is working all things together for our good. Thanksgiving sanctifies, and moves a situation out of the enemy’s hand in and into God’s. Stewarding a thankful heart reestablishes our trust in God’s sovereignty, and is one of the most profound weapons God has given us in our arsenal.

Daily Devotion (December-15-2023) THE PURPOSE AND POWER OF THANKSGIVING.

Scripture Reference: Psalm 100:4 - "Enter with the Password: Thank You! Make yourselves at home, talking Praise. Thank Him. Worship Him."

Welcome to the December, the final month of the calendar year. This month is generally penned down as a period of celebration due to the Yuletide Season. More importantly, however, this is also meant to be a period of  sober reflection and heartfelt gratitude to God for His Bountiful Mercies from January to December because "though your beginning was small, yet your latter end will increase abundantly." (Job 8:7). Some people lose sight of the fact that God has been Faithful throughout the year up till this point. The Holy Bible tells us that His Mercies "are new every morning..." (Lam. 3:23a). This means that the Lord has shown His Mercy to everyone no less than once each day, meaning each person has no less than 335 reasons to be grateful to God since the beginning of January.

The Power of Thanksgiving can never be overemphasized. After an extremely successful three-day outreach programme by the Sea of Galilee resulting in several various healings, Matthew 15 documents a swelling welfare crisis the Lord Jesus was faced with: "Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way."(verse 32). His disciples were confused, prompting them to inquire "Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to feed such a great multitude?" (verse 33) Acting on the Lord's Instructions, they could only find seven loaves of bread and a few little fishes. Certainly insignificant for such a vast multitude! Any other person would surely have been at his wit's end but not the Lord Jesus. He understood the Power of Thanksgiving which He deployed in the face of that situation: "And He took the seven loaves and the fish AND GAVE THANKS, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude." (verse 36). Jesus didn't complain like many of us normally would when He looked at the seven loaves and the little fish in His Hands. The Bible says He gave thanks, showing gratitude to the Father for the supposedly meagre provision which was obviously inadequate. The results that followed were recorded to inspire and instruct generations to come: "So they all ate and were filled, and THEY TOOK UP SEVEN LARGE BASKETS FULL OF THE FRAGMENTS THAT WERE LEFT." (verse 37). Think about this for a moment: Four thousand men, besides women and children, were fully satisfied as a result of the Miracle of Multiplication which took place, leaving behind leftovers which filled seven large baskets. Such is the Power of Thanksgiving.

2023 has been an eventful year and for some a perilous journey through diverse turmoils in Nations. Howbeit, the Holy Scripture says "IN EVERYTHING give thanks; for this is the Will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1Thess. 5:18). Notice that we must give God thanks IN everything, not FOR everything. An attitude of gratitude will always determine your altitude in life. Provisions would never lack on the table of a genuine thanksgiver. Pause for a moment and take stock of this year which comes to an end in a few weeks. Developing a heart of Thanksgiving would definitely guarantee the year 2023 ends in praise for us all. Never forget that Thanksgiving still remains the Password into His Abundance.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we are Eternally grateful to You for being such a Faithful God towards us. O Lord, please help us comprehend the importance of giving You thanks in all things and in every situation. By Your Extravagant Grace, this year will end in grand style for all of Your children in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.

Joseph Prince (November-26-2023) Daily Devotional: Thanksgiving Can Raise the Dead!

. . . And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me . . . John 11:41–42

After Jesus had said these words, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” And the man who had been dead for four days came out of his tomb!

This is one of the greatest miracles that Jesus performed. Lazarus had been dead for four days when Jesus raised him to life. Wouldn’t you agree that death is indeed an extreme problem? Having no money in the bank, being sick and losing your job, bad as they are, are not as bad as being dead!

But what I want you to see is this: If Jesus, in the most extreme of problems, shows us that the solution is still, “Father, I thank You,” then how much more should we thank God in the midst of the less serious problems we face. If thanksgiving can raise the dead, then let us give thanks in spite of the negative circumstances and we will see victory.

Unfortunately, we tend to do the opposite—murmur and complain. But murmuring and complaining only magnify the problem. Thanksgiving, on the other hand, is the language of faith which pleases God. I am not saying that we give thanks for the problems we have. No, we thank God that He is our answer and that He has already given every blessing to us (Eph. 1:3).

“But Pastor Prince, what I have is so little.”

My friend, thank God for the little you have and it will multiply. Jesus thanked His Father for the five barley loaves and two small fish, a little boy’s lunch, and they were multiplied to feed more than five thousand people with twelve baskets full of leftovers (John 6:8–13)! And notice that when the Holy Spirit talked about this event again, He specifically mentioned the Lord giving thanks—“the place where they ate bread after the LORD had given thanks” (John 6:23). The Holy Spirit seemed to be more pleased with the act of giving thanks than the miracle of multiplication or the twelve baskets full of leftovers.

Beloved, the more you thank God, the more you please Him. What little you have will be multiplied and whatever is dead in your life will be raised to life!

Popular sermons online

As the concept suggests, a preacher is one who practices the art of preaching. The word "preaching" is originally associated with the religious sphere of activity. Language researchers note that of all religious texts, this word - like the type of activity itself - is most closely associated with Christianity. Preachers teach Bible truths when speaking to believers or unbelievers.

Most of the Bible's sermons are in the New Testament. The sermon, as we find it in the Book of Acts and the Epistles, is expressive, but at the same time brief. It is built on the fundamental truths of Christianity: the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The preaching of the Church, in whatever form it is delivered - be it an ardent call to repentance for sins and salvation or the gospel story of a relationship with God and people - is by nature Christocentric.

Christian online preaching isn’t just a statement of spiritual truths, but as a sacred act, during which the preacher, in cooperation with the Lord the Holy Spirit, accomplishes the work of salvation for unbelieving listeners and the process of spiritual growth for the saved. Words spoken by a person cannot strengthen faith, but the biblical sermon in the mouths of preachers has a special power that can transform a person's soul. It is on this supernatural power of preaching that the preacher's authority is established.

Despite the fact that the evangelical Church teaches about the priesthood of every born-again Christian, in the work of biblical preaching, special attention is paid to the character and moral character of the preacher. The moral right to proclaim eternal biblical truths, to preach the Gospel from the pulpit or in another setting on behalf of the Church, can not only be those who know these truths, but who have Christian virtues, a character that reflects Christ. We are talking about a person who sincerely loves God and the people to whom he addresses, deeply interested in the eternal and earthly well-being of his listeners. A person with the good name of a Christian, who has a "good testimony" confirmed by time and the Church. Since we are talking about eternal, enduring truths, the writing of which was inspired by the holy God, proclaim them on behalf of the Author, i.e. of God Himself, it is permissible for the one who knows Him personally, has constant communion with Him and obeys Him implicitly. From the point of view of the essence and basis of the message that he proclaims, the preacher is not the author of his message and therefore doesn’t have the right to change the truths being proclaimed. He represents the interests and fulfills the will of the One who authorized him for this with the authority of His glorious name, and, therefore, the preacher is obliged to accurately convey to his audience what was entrusted to him by God. Freely interpreting Scripture and presenting to the audience their own interpretation of eternal biblical truths, posing as God's revelation on behalf of God, is not only a distortion of the truth, but also an ethical violation that entails consequences. However, in the sermon, it is not forbidden to mention personal experience, as well as the experience of other people, examples from various areas of public life to the extent that these examples correspond to the truth and contribute to a more accurate and understandable message of it.

Of course, in the modern world, taking into account the development of communications, a preacher is expected to possess the skills of oratory. This is not a strict requirement, but it is always encouraged, as it is an undeniable advantage and serves the greater benefit and success of the preaching work.

There are many preachers in modern Christianity who have achieved recognized success in the preaching work.
